Up at 7, having had, probably, just four hours' sleep but still with an hour of the podcast to record...
Back to it...
...while noting the skies outside seemed ok...
Podcast done and up by 8:17 - good work, considering the very late commencement..
Despite general knackeredness, I'd decided to head to that Glasgow today...
And so, down the hill for the bus, shortly after 9...
And on...
...for free - because I am so old...
My trusty bag was empty but I was hoping it would not be on the way back...
Good chance photos from the bus...
By 10:20 I was out and about on the other side of Scotchland...
I walked to Buchanan Street...
...and down past Love Music, not yet open,...
..and on - hmmm, perhaps Capital Models could play at this function room...
...we have not played in Glasgow since 1980...
Two of the then quartet are still in the group...
Past St George's....
...noting a listener with dogs who looked liked they wished the listener was not a listener to the particular things to which he was listening...
Another good chance photo...
Fopp and the BHF opposite it yielded no musical fruit...
On to Missing for a trawl...
...and these acquired at three for just a pound, all of which were later today found to be, at the very least, reasonable - certainly for 33p...
Haim...
Nicely maudlin Jeff Klein...
Canadian, Brooke Miller...
A very good find - collaborator with Danish faves Efterklang - nice...
More countryish stuff - I have one of his already at home...
A Spanish comp - which turned out to be much better than ones I've partaken of while being in that actual Spain...
Now I'm scraping the barrel you might think - but there's one track by John Grant...
Soul and jazz acts always reveal how the Beatles were not actually all that good - still...
Another barrel scrape but with Dutch Uncles and, so, justified...
Into the subway...
..and out at Kelvinbridge...
...for the short walk to...
...Mixed Up...
...again though, nothing enticed...
Into the subway again...
...to Byres Road...
At the BHF...
...five for a pound...
Nice work...
...some tasty tracks...
Prog, kind of...
This turned out to have a "Sex in the City" DVD inside but I was able to download the album and burn to a CD-R (second time I've had to do this in a couple of weeks)...
Rockin'...
By this time it was pouring with rain - a walk down to the Oxfam Music Shop...
...and these partaken of for £8...
I do like Holy Fuck...
Jazz - on the strength of the presence of Idris Muhammad...
Took a chance on this but it's very good...
..and, finally, trumpeter Dave Douglas with guitarist Bill Frisell along for the ride...
Back to the subway, heading home...
...out at Buchanan Street...
...and back round past a now open Love Music...
...where two further jazz purchases for £8 were made as I tried my best not to drip onto the stock...
My bag was indeed full...
Arrived at the bottom of the hill an hour later...
...up said hill, into the garden...
...and home, with a haul to be listened to and ripped...
Late on, I was swithering about whether to order a solitary Indian takeaway...
Anne and Jane were enjoying one in that London, after a good day, including a visit to Kew gardens...
Indian duly ordered - although it took an hour before I was allowed to go to pick it up...
...and looking not quite as good as the Exec Producer's looked...
More listening and a couple of episodes of new thing "Travellers"...
Then, to bed at 11:30...
Highlight of the Day : Glasgow shopping...
