Up early and prepping the podcast but not doing it for, today, we were off to Glasgow for the Scottish Cup Final…

Views from the garden as we set off…

We were going to be showing our allegiance…

On arrival, we parked around 15 minutes’ walk from the stadium then took a train to Central Station…

…followed by the Subway to Kelvinbridge, where breakfast was enjoyed at Roots, Fruits and Flowers on Great Western Road…

Best (unpictured) croissant ever for the EP and porridge with banana and honey for Mr CBQ…

Then, to Mixed Up (of course) on Otago Lane…

…where a small pile of £1 CDs was partaken of…

A Subway to Byre’s Road and a wee look around Fopp – no purchases – and then back to the town centre, a sandwich and a train back to the car to pick up the scarves…

We were in our seats by 2:20; Brother-in-Law Bob and nephew Olly’s bus from a pre match club drinks and pies visit broke down on the way – but they arrived with a minute to spare…

Good to see Queen of the South’s Stephen Dobbie recognised at the final, having scored the most goals of anyone in the tournament…

After much palaver…

…the game got underway…

Hearts played much better than expected and went in 0-0 at half time…

In 52 minutes, they, deservedly, went ahead…

…through Ryan Edwards…

But it was Edouard of Celtic who had the final say – scoring from a penalty in 62 mins following his official fooling dive – and then, the winner, with just 8 minutes to go, capitalising on a defensive error by the Hearts captain…

And it was all over…

The Hearts players walked dejectedly around the pitch but, to be fair, they did much better than anyone could have expected and, indeed, might well have won the game but for some expert cheating and a stupid error…

But that’s football..

Luckily, it’s only a game and doesn’t matter in the big scheme of things…

…although it kind of does to Anne and Bob and a disappointed nephew Olly – but I think before the game they’d all have taken 2-1…

But then, having your team go ahead and then lose, is not the best…

We hung around to see the team get their losers’ medals…

...but not to see Celtic take the final part of their “triple treble”…

A walk with the crowd through the rain and back to the car and then a short drive across town to Mr Singh’s…

…for a tasty tea with a not too down-hearted Anne…

…followed by a constitutional walk around the environs and than a drive home and some ripping and listening and watching of the highlights, which merely confirmed the penalty being wrong and the stupid error that lost the match…

Oh well…

Wasn’t to be…

Highlight of the Day : Cup Final (First 61 minutes anyway)
