Up early...

...and prepping but not recording this week's podcast...

Including a few things for Jorg and Manuela, even though they are unlikely ever to hear it...

Breakfast at home and then a drive over to Flotterstone and another walk around Glencourse Reservoir - in even better weather than our Easter walk a couple of weeks back...

The crows were noisy...

I like that noise though and regretted not having brought my recorder...

The visitors were enjoying the first part of the day...

We ventured further round the lake than at Easter...

...and then, made our way back to the car...

Hmmm...

We then drove through the heat to nearby Roslin and contemplated visiting Rosslyn Chapel...

Last time Anne and I were here was pre the Da Vinci Code - with the influx of tourists since then, they've gotten serious and now charge nearly a tenner per person for entry...

We walked around the outside...

...and Jorg managed to get a reasonable picture...

...before lunch at Dolly's Tea Rooms...

...and then a drive to the Forth Bridges - we were going to head to a Distillery in East Lothian but Jorg advised perhaps, as he was the only one of the quartet who actually likes whisky, we might do something different...

And so, the bridges it was then...

We spotted some kind of fun day thing from above...

Jorg wanted a better picture of the rail Bridge...

...and broke the rules to get one...

Down to the fun day thing...

...which afforded more good pictures...

...but was somewhat lacking in actual "fun"...

Instead we walked to the village for ice cream...

...taking in more good views...

...and enjoying said ice cream...

Home for a rest...

In the evening, a bus into town...

... and to the City Restaurant...

...for beers...

...and Scotland's speciality, deep fried food - fish and chips for everyone, except me - I do like chippie hamburgers...

More drinks followed at the Green Mantle, accompanied by an unappreciated man with a guitar...

...and, in turn, followed by a nice walk back down to Princes Street, via the University, George IV Bridge and the Mound...

A packed day which left us ready for hitting the sack once we got home...

End of day 11, the birthday continues...

Highlight of the Day : A walk around a reservoir...
