Up early and prepping machines and gadgets for the trip to Yorkshire...

And uploaded the Cloudland Blue Eclectic Selections Vols 41 and 42 to Mixcloud...

After weeks of not making the charts, Vol 40 made the Rock Top 40...

Which was nice...

I also undertook some actual packing...

Shortly before ten, we were ready for the off...

But a recently arrived in search of some goodie drops Tiger the Cat was proving difficult to eject from the house...

Departed at 10 and a quick visit to my mum before starting out on the journey proper...

Her house was, once again, as hot as a jungle...

I think I need to do something re her heaters along the lines of how I fixed her incessant pressing of the wrong buttons on her remote controls for her TV and Tivo box...

Sister Sheila arrived just as we were leaving – she too is heading for Yorkshire and we will meet up at nephew Andy's on Tuesday...

Andy's brother Ali is “on call” re mum while her children are off separately but simultaneously galavanting...

A convoluted route had been worked out by your correspondent via Peebles, Langholm, Aisgill, Hopehouse and Settle, timed at around 5 hours 20 mins – an extra hour over the fastest, mostly motorway route – and so, much time was spent on very small, twisty, windy, over the moors roads as we drove through, mostly, torrential rain...

Of course 30 minutes or so was added to the journey by the visit to my mum and a further hour re our lunch stop in Langholm...

Cows, sheep and an unpictured wayward duck all blocked our passage at various points along the way...

The Exec Producer took matters into her own navigating hands as we drove through Hawes, eschewing the final leg of my route and a drive through Settle, thereby shaving 10 miles and twenty minutes off the journey...

We arrived in Burnsall just after 4 pm and were soon unpacked and settled in...

Drinks in the cottage and a walk around the one street village and along the river bank ensued...

...then, to the Red Lion for more refreshment, before heading home for some tasty pasta and more drinks into the night...

Lighting of the fire was a little less than satisfactory but ok, the only real disappointment of the day...

Not to worry, as the holiday is underway...

Highlight of the Day : Finally arriving in Burnsall...
