Up early, podcast uploaded and to the gym for some cycling and some leg pressing...

Home for some scrambled eggs on toast...

At 10:30, over to pickup Dr Prog for a few hours of catch up...

We traversed the university campus, where youngsters were being accompanied by their parents to today's open day...

The doc wished them the best of luck...

To the music library - Phil was on the look out for Tchaikovsky while I picked up two 3CD boxes of reggae, a 5CD set of Jacques Brel and the latest from Explosions in the Sky...

Down to the Grassmarket and a couple of completely unnecessary purchases for £3...

Gidon Kremeer and Kremerata Baltica, over which I'd swithered a few weeks back, when here with the Exec Producer...

...and this tasty soul collection...

Lunch at Scooby Doo's...

Phil has acquired yet another new set of headphones for far too much money...

Keeps him happy though...

A walk back towards the car...

...for coffee and cake at what was once the Beanscene - I eschewed the "biggest vanilla slices in Christendom" for a wee raspberry and coconut item - apple slice for the Doc...

World set to rights, we parted, as he took the shoe-leather option home...

Back to the car...

Stax on the sound system...

Home for some ripping and listening and watching the Twitter feed describe Queens struggling to beat lowly Montrose 3-1 in extra time in the Irn Bru cup - having only equalised in the dying minutes of the game...

Win ugly indeed...

In the evening, a drive to Armadale for a visit to chum Julia, ex-mum of much missed Meg the Black Cat...

She is a quite superb cook and much of the evening was spent in the kitchen as she conjured up delight after delight...

..accompanied by a now 5 years old Phoebe the Dog...

Dates with home made sweet nuts and cuts of ham appetized...

...while Julie made a tart tatin from scratch...

With that into the oven, pork balls in a Thai sauce was set about...

Tasty as tasty can be...

The tart emerged...

...and was set to one side as we retired to the living room...

Phoebe likes chasing the output of a laser pen...

It's difficult to capture...

Julia also entertained with her Ukulele...

The tart was tipped successfully...

..and left to cool for 20 minutes as we took Phoebe for her evening stroll, complete with flashing collar...

Then, home for French apple tart...

..and ice cream...

We felt totally spoiled...

Back to the living room and some duets undertaken - "Sweet Jane", "Hallelujah"...

...and some good chat on various topics, family, music, life, etc etc...

And some strange videos watched - Jake Thackary, and Indian ensemble with an excellent rendition of Dave Brubeck's "Take Five" and a policeman singing along to Taylor Swift's "Shake it Off"...

Good skies as we left just before eleven...

Almost inevitably, Tiger visited on our arrival home...

A good day...

Highlight of the Day : All of it...
