Up early, enjoying some prog rock...
Weather slightly dull again but, thankfully, no rain forecast...
Out for provisions...
Up early, enjoying some prog rock...
Weather slightly dull again but, thankfully, no rain forecast...
Out for provisions...
...and back to set up breakfast...
Exec Producer not quite as upbeat as yesterday due to the low temperature...
Out and walking over the bridge - this counter tells the people of Bremen how many cyclists have past it each day and in the year so far...
Almost a million in six months...
Along the water side...
Our target for tomorrow...
But this Pink Floyd like structure indicated our art-based target for today...
This outside...
Inside, even the stairwells were interesting...
We visited several exhibitions here, all for the measly admission price of just eight of your European Euros..
I took a shed load of pics and I'll let them speak for themselves, with the minimum of commentary...
First up, the cover art of the German jazz label ACT (a sampler of which I bought on the way in)...
What's this?
My favourite artist...
Who's this by?
Your correspondents reflected in an abstract face...
Then, the photos of Siggi Loch...
These of Klaus Doldinger, decades apart...
The EP takes a listen...
As does Mr CBQ...
A recent loss...
Ornette Coleman...
Next, the collection of a pharmacist and, later, his son - of contemporary art from the last 50 years or so, much of it by completely, or relatively, unknown artists..
This stain on the floor impressed "the kids"...
Next up, landscapes in their various formats...
...and again...
Surprisingly, these are Roy Lichtensteins...
...as is this...
...Anselm Kiefer...
More from Gerhard Richter...
...and Herr Kiefer...
And there was more upstairs...
These are from the collection of the Swiss artist and graphic designer Karl Gerstner - works by the likes of Arman, George Brecht, Christo, Robert Filliou, Raymond Hains, Dieter Roth, Daniel Spoerri, André Thomkins, Jean Tinguely and Dorothee von Windheim...
We would see something in a couple of days which brought this to mind...
This was very clever indeed...
I am kicking myself for not noting the artist...
Christo, unmistakenly...
On, to the next floor...
Looking down on the landscapes...
A film of a young man playing a grand piano to a room full of caged birds...
Into the attic...
Walking towards these drums, triggered a sensor which caused them to play...
Onwards into another room in the "attic" of the building...
Art based on speakers...
High frequency sounds from these...
Low frequencies here..
...and even lower...
I believe I liked it better than Anne did...
The final exhibition was of works by documentary maker, Lutz Dammbeck...
...and out...
An excellent time...
...followed by this surreal scene over the river...
A man, in a suit, on a wheel...
Into town for a coffee...
...and a seat in a city garden...
...where time was relaxed...
Then, a walk around...
...and sausages for lunch...
This was in the main square - we'd seen them setting it up yesterday...
It did not stop our sightseeing...
Later, they were letting off balloons...
The weather was much improved...
...and so we took a walk to the "bohemian" part of the city...
Past the Kunsthaus...
...and some ducks...
...and two more galleries...
...and the Theater am Goetheplatz...
We found a record shop...
I emerged after 13 minutes with a purchase...
We started the walk back, Anne having spotted a place for coffee...
...where I inspected today's purchase...
Home under the sun...
...and some refreshments and nibbles on the balcony...
Yum...
Highlight of the Day : Art...
