Summer pt IV...

A good long walk with order posting fitted in..

...and the ubiquitous "visit to Fopp"...

This to determine whether a particular album was already in the collection...

It is...

On the way home, the weather finally broke...

...and the rain commenced - less than vindicating my decision this morning to venture forth jacket-less...

Some nearby, clearly preposterous building work has also begun...

Fools and bairns perhaps though...

A few online purchases are still to arrive and one was behind the door this evening...

I'm not religious in any way but religion has been the catalyst for some magnificent music through the ages...

Meanwhile, my Fopp haul comprised this Thad Jones mono title from 1956...

...this big band disc from 1970...

...and the latest from The Bad Plus - a collaboration with saxophonist Joshua Redman...

I saw this combination with Dr Prog at the Queens Hall back in 2012 - it's taken 3 years for anything to be released but I found this beautiful performance on the net tonight from that very gig...

I found it quite moving...

Around 7:30, chum Lesley arrived and we drove to Leith for a gig by local hero, Dean Owens...

My much missed musical partner, Mr Jamie Frain was a big fan - Dean and Jamie's sons were at school together - and Jamie and I saw him at a house concert many years ago...

Tonight we met up with Gillian & Lindsay, Tash & Jimmy and Elise...

Lesley and Gillian used to work with Dean at a local department store in the 1980's...

A very enjoyable evening was had by one and all...

Mr Owens is a consummate performer - especially so in front of his home crowd, fronting his band the Whisky Hearts...

We saw the others in our party off into the night after midnight, before Lesley took us back to Crispycat Towers...

An enjoyable day...

highlight of the Day : New Bad Plus, good night out...
