Up far too early as usual...

Some last minute mucking about before we headed to the airport around midday for a trip to Berlin - we'd had our accomodation cancelled out of the blue but had managed to rearrange just in time...

The ubiquitous wing-shot...

..and our target...

We had booked a trip up this in advance...

Landed without incident...

...and out...

...and a bus journey to Rudlow...

...followed by an U-Bahn journey, which took us through Neukolln, as featured on side two of David Bowie's "Heroes"...

...to Konsanzerstrasse and a short walk and we were at our hotel in Wilmersdorf...

...instead of our apartment in 45 minutes away Prenzlauer Berg...

Nice view though...

A quick unpack and out to explore the environs...

We were just a few steps away from the luxury stores of the Kurfurstendamm...

...where we saw the first of many Berlin bears...

...and some strange street furniture...

Finding a nearby restaurant, we enjoyed our first drink of the holiday...

...and some tasty Italian food - oops - at least there was a modicum of sausage related content...

Further walking (in all we covered almost 70 miles during the trip), we found a book shop, which I never did get round to exploring during daylight hours...
