Swanning about...

Playlist
Mogwai - Les Revenants
Cloudland Blue Quartet - Twenty Four Paintings

An overcast morning...

A good breakfast and out to the tube...

...to London Bridge and along to Borough Market...

The Exec Producer partook of a goodly amount of spice and chili...

People queued round the block for coffee...

Weird...

A further walk, past this likeable abode...

..and Paul Smith's tiny shop...

...and the cloud surrounded Shard...

...and past the Globe...

...opposite St Paul's...

...to our second target of the day, Tate Modern...

Ah, there's always some family carrying out an installation...

The gallery will soon have a new wing...

We went to the top floor to avoid the early crowds, enjoying a coffee...

...and checking the chillies...

Then, down the stairs to the galleries...

...for some old favourites and some new displays....

Dan Flavin...

Derek Jarman's "Blue" was playing - soundtrack by Eno...

Rothko and Richter...

..and a box of condensation...

We liked these...

...and I liked this...

...and this...

...and this..

...etc...

A new Richter - sheets of glass reflecting the viewers with a grey behind us...

Cy Twombly...

Black, Johnny, black...

Rothkos, originally commissioned for a restaurant - commission abandoned when Mr R realised the subdued light required for proper viewing would not be available in a restaurant...

Good heads...

Two fave Richters...

Viewers of all ages...

Mr Bacon and his ever melting faces...

Tour groups...

Snapping the masters...

...near snapped surrealists...

This time, we looked in the long wooden things - they are kaleidoscope-like items...

The Beuys room...

A guide tried to engage youngish viewers by drawing analogies between "Modern Art" and The Simpsons cartoons...

A roomful of Russia...

...and a tray on a wall...

Dali, of course...

Out into the Turbine Room...

..and a wander round the shop...

...before emerging into the sunlight...

All of a sudden, a lovely day...

Over to St Paul's...

...and a bus into town...

A walk through Covent Garden...

...past Seven Dials...

In Fopp, a strange occurrence, as I bought nothing while the Exec Producer added a DVD to her bag of spices...

On to Foyle's bookshop and, at last my duck was broken...

...by Tim Friese-Green, Esbjorn Svensson, Morton Feldman and Madredeus alumni, Rodrigo Leao...

Yum...

A well earned rest in Ray's Jazz Cafe...

...before a No 24 bus took us up to Camden Market - and bitter-sweet memories of our time here with sister Pam three years ago...

Not sure what happened here, but someone's having a good time...

Lunch from a street food stall..

...and a birthday bag for Annie, waving in this, from below the green and white canopy...

Back to the hotel to drop off ill gotten gains...

...and over to Islington in the dark and the rain...

...finding a warm and friendly pub to while away some time...

Anne found that, back home, Hearts had won again at last - Queens' game was abandoned when a fan died in the crowd after a heart attack...

On to Saddler's Wells and pre show refreshments...

..as we joined the great and the good...

...with men dancing the swan parts...

Stunning choreography and amazing show all told...

A quick and tasty Mexican burrito each and then a walk home through the dark...

Excellent day...

Highlight of the Day : Everything really...
