French comedy and cooking...

Playlist
David Bowie - The Next Day
Laurie Anderson - Homeland
Clifford Jordan - Seven Classic Albums

Out into a cold, rainy and, generally, horrible morning...

The holiday season is over...

The new Haymarket Station is open at last...

Mid afternoon, a trip to Fopp and enticed by a 4CD set by Cliford Jordan containing seven albums recorded between 1957 and 1962 (including one each by Lee Morgan and Max Roach)...

I was turned on to this by a recent article on The Bad Plus's Ethan Iverson's blog re Jordan's later works...

Groovy...

Good skies on the way home...

...but glad to be out of the cold and home for the weekend...

We very much enjoyed "Beautiful Lies" ("De vrais mensonges"), starring Audrey Tatou and directed by Pierre Salvadori, who was also at the helm for two other excellent French films viewed over the last couple of years at Crispycat Towers, "After You" ("Apres Vous") and "Priceless" ("Hors de prix")...

Yes, very good indeed and all three are highly recommended by your correspondent and his Exec Producer...

Then, Mr Jordan was applied to the sound system as we cooked...

...and Meg the Black Cat rested...

Our dish today was a Coconut Prawn Curry which, like the Hogmanay Curry, was taken from Rick Stein's "India" book...

I was in charge of whizzed onions and grated ginger...

Anne was in charge of everything else...

Nearly ready...

No points for presentation but I can advise it did taste a lot better than it looked...

Later on "University Challenge" and "Silent Witness" entertained, before I retired upstairs until around midnight, working on the CBQ websites re my decision for 2014 to, for now, abandon physical product (with the exception of the upcoming soundscapes extravaganza) and to allow the entire back catalogue to be downloaded from Bandcamp on a "name your price" basis...

Enjoy...

Lights out...

Highlight of the Day : French comedy and cooking...
