Some good sounds coming up on the shuffle today...

Once more into the dark...

...and, due to slight tardiness, a more conventional route taken...

Home early, the "Venetian" tower at Shandwick Place attracting the camera, as it has done often in the past...

In the evening, good soup made and enjoyed, along with the last two episodes of "Atlantis", the BBC Scotland Hogmanay film "Two Doors Down" - much better than expected - and "Silent Witness" and "Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe" watched in real time...

Then, "Newsnight" came on...

I'd forgotten why I gave up long ago on "Newsnight" - now I remember...

The only plus point was the Independent's columnist's badgering of the Channel 4 exec re misportrayal of the UK's benefits system...

As always, Fraser Nelson's accent undermined any point he tried to make...

Re affected accents, possibly a mistake to have him and Kirsty Wark on the same show - all we needed was Kirsty Young to show up...

The final straw was the constant insertion of ads for the mind numbingly parochial "Newsnight Scotland" - as bad an advert for voting for independence later this year as you're likely to find...

Final act of the day was to create a compilation playlist of all the improvs on the recently acquired twenty odd disc King Crimson box, which entertained into the land of nod...

Lights out...

Highlight of the Day : Anne's tasty soup...
