Birth year changed the world, probably...

Jacques Brel – C’est comme ca

Clouds preluded a beautiful day today...

Later, the clouds cleared – the church in the distance is where Count Brodski married his now ex-wife...

The pic was taken on my way to FOPP to buy a Dolly Parton Greatest Hits disc for the Exec Producer – she likes the original of “I Will Always Love You” - while there I picked up a 2CD set by jazz pianist, Bill Evans..

Just £3 for his first two albums as leader, “New Jazz Conceptions” and “Everybody Digs Bill Evans”...

Comedy on TV tonight with “My Name is Earl”, “The Big Bang Theory” – both excellent – and the much trailed by E4 “Inbetweeners” which hardly raised a titter and included a scene of intense cruelty to, and killing of, a fish – I will not be watching again...

A call from Count Brodski – we will visit the record fair this Saturday morning...

An invite to attend hospitality at next week’s Partick v QoS game in Glasgow...

Creek man Mr Cobley alerted me a couple of days ago to “1959: The Year that Changed Jazz” and has now declared himself ensnared by the music...

I have the four albums featured in the programme, from Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Charles Mingus and Ornette Coleman...

Watch it if you can – it shows just how far ahead of rock and pop jazz was and, in many ways, still is – the invention and musicianship on display is astounding...

Three of the four albums feature in my top ten of 1959...

The evening was rounded off by “This Week”...

A tasty, jazzy day all in all...

Highlight of the Day : New jazz, new comedy...
