Up early for another hearty breakfast before settling our bill and heading for the autobahn to Kassel...

We arrived and parked under the Staatstheater around midday...

We headed for 2nd hand record store Scheibenbeisser, where I bought the new album by German superstar Udo Lindenberg, his first of new material for around 8 years...

It's been number one here since its release in March - quite a comeback...

Then we took a stroll through the Stadt Fest (City festival) which was being thrown for Pfingsten Wochenende (Ascension Weekend) which seems to be a big holiday here...

Back to the car and we headed out to Jorg's hometown of Felsberg - listening to Udo on the way and getting slightly lost in the process - but we arrived eventually around 1:30 or so...

Sky blue skies and very hot indeed...

We all drove over to the nearby village of Hilgershausen where tonight's party was to be...

In the garden of the village hall was a stream and Jorg and Yvonne's three kids set about building a dam...

..while the adults set up the hall...

The party started around 7 (which was when I started drinking the free beer)....

Also in attendance were Jorg's grandmother (88 in 8 weeks' time), Yvonne's two sisters, Ute and Karoline and Karoline's boyfriend felix, who was to video the proceedings...

Here're Anne and Karoline - my tenth beer is in the foreground...

I met up with a couple of old friends I'd not seen for nearly 27 years, Uwe Blaesing who still lives two doors along from Jorg's mum, and Berit Kerkemann, now the town's most successful beautician...

Around 10pm, Yvonne, who is a qualified Belly Dancing Instructress, gave a performance after an opener from members of her class...

...followed by another class member's first ever public performance for which she shose to mime to Marilyn Monroe for some reason...

It was entertaining though...

...and the crowd was much impressed...

Everything after that's a bit of a blur really - I do recall playing hide and seek out in the gardens with the children - trying to find them using flash photography - and gibbering on in german telling Uwe and Berit how they looked exactly the same as I'd remembered them...

Apparently we left around 4 am after I was found asleep at a table holding just one last beer...

I have no recollection of being in this vehicle but it's the one which, very kindly, took us home...

A good day...

Highlight of the Day : Party...
