Up early as ever on a Monday morning...

Luna was in her place...

...and then she was in a place where she ought not to have been...

She was inspecting...

Back to the machines...

...for some "work" pre an egg based breakfast with out of date eggs brought back from my mum's...

Luna was in her place...

A call with Spike's wife, Debbie re funeral arrangements, details etc etc and agreed to compile and create playlists for the as yet unknown day...

Difficult times...

Out with Anne taking her to her mum's and then I walked from there...

...to the office, expectedly subdued...

To the BHF and a strange CD purchased...

As is my wont...

To FOPP and a couple more things partaken of (see below) and a chat with the guy there re the performance on 4 November...

Home on the bus and a wee chum spotted on my way up the hill...

Another wee chum was in her place back home...

Ripping and listening...

In the evening, I was in charge of the balked potatoes - Luna had been eating something or other judging by the stain on her chin...

"University Challenge" and "Citadel" etc tonight on Anne's return...

Highlight of the Day : New things...

Up just after six...

Working on Capital Models stuff and then breakfast...

...accompanied by a wee cat...

Anne was painting the bathroom and I was mucking about re music when a message came through to say our chum of some 20 years, Alex "Spike" Williams died last night...

Just shocked...

I'd been messaging him last week when he advised he was to have open heart surgery - an angiogram tomorrow and then "in for the slicing" as he put it...

Apparently, he'd had a good day, up in Stirling for new sunglasses then out in the afternoon with his wife Debbie and a couple of friends and, post that, rather than just heading home in the car, with Spike driving, they took a walk along Portobello promenade...

At 6:21 he collapsed and died...

Only "good" thing about it was he would not have known anything - one second there, the next gone...

Dreadful news and now just in a bit of a daze for the rest of the day...

Still had to go and do my mum's shopping and give her a wee visit...

And Anne still had to go to the Hearts game against Motherwell - which Spike should have been at too of course - biggest Jambo I knew and I know a lot of Jambos...

He was only just back from Norway, at what turned out to be their final European game of the season...

They let Spike down with a dreadful performance today...

On my way to my mum's I stopped off in Morningside, still in shock and merely popped into the Shelter Shop only to find these...

On to do my mum's shopping and put it away and let her peruse the receipt...

She always finds something or other which perplexes her...

Back home just before five...

Anne had continued her painting, or, re-painting, of the bathroom...

This evening some relaxation...

...and thinking...

Can't believe Spike has gone...

Lowlight of the Day : Spike, gone...

Saturday, up "late" and podcast issued...

Late morning, down the hill...

...and to Haymarket for a bus change and out to Balerno for a visit to Mr "meeting Us At The Bus Stop and Walking us to His House" Malcolm Logan...

Found this buried amongst huis noy organised in any way pile of CDs...

We were soundtracked by Mr Eno...

...and, a blast from the past, The Three Johns...

Drinks were enjoyed, chat was chatted and Malcolm cooked a tasty seafood pasta...

Later, to the Grey Horse Inn, for more drinks and a discussion with "Keith" about the possibility of Capital Models playing a Bowie Velvets Roxy Eno based gig here...

Let's see...

On our walk back to the bus, spotted this...

Malcom, looking good as he approaches 57 - although he did not seem to be aware of exactly how old he was - we worked it out due his 18th having been in 1984...

Another convoluted journey home and some telly and bed...

Highlight of the Day : Catching up with Malcolm...
