Up and no snow...
Scenes...
Work first thing...
1. Re-arrange the two separate "Live Suites" I created in the run up to Whitby, one from 1977 to 1996 and one from 1996 to 2005, into one 40 minute piece, from 1977 to 2005...
Done, dusted...
2. write this up...
Done, dusted...
Time for "#A-Haydn-A-Day" on BlueSky - it's the new Twitter don't you now...
Today's was the 25 minute Symphony No. 45 in F♯ minor, known as the "Abschiedssinfonie" ("Farewell" Symphony), from 1772....
Of the four renditions I have in the collection, I chose Vilmos Tatrai and the Hungarian Chamber Orchestra, on White Label, issued in 1988...
Delightful!
Background: Prince Esterházy's court was in Eszterháza. The musicians wives were a day away in Eisenstadt. In the last movement each musician stopped in turn and left the stage till there were just 2 muted violins left. The Prince got the message and the court was back in Eisenstadt the next day...
Hence, "Abschied"...
Then, snow...
...and a lovely breakfast from Anne...
Re a recommendation from one of the others in the Haydn group, I downloaded the ongoing "Haydn 2032" project releases to date - 16 CDs thus far - by Giovanni Antonini and the Kammerorchester Basel...
It is set to run until, you guessed it, 2032...
Nice...
I only had Vol 4 previously...
As those uploaded to my iTunes, I dipped into my own "Haydn" from July 2021...
Time flies...
Also, nice...
Debate as to whether we ought to travel out to Penicuik to meet new arrival BB, along with nephew Andy and his boys, up for the day...
We decided we'd give it a go...
Out...
Twenty minutes later, the car was back in the garage...
At least I'd had a chance to listen to the first 20 minutes of the "new" suite...
Advised the envisaged hosts, Ali & Julie (and Harris and BB) we could not make it, due to this...
... and the jammed up traffic...
Back inside...
The show went on without us...
Sister Sheila, currently in Moffat, rigged up this comparison re when Harris arrived...
At Crispycat Towers, there was tasty home made carrot, potato, leek and coriander soup and a couple of "Cross" and some lounging about...
Queens game postponed and the correct travel decision made - roads closed, public transport cancelled etc etc...
Upstairs, re another thing on the BlueSky, I compiled a list of artists I've seen live - one for each letter of the alphabet...

Of course, I only have a vague recollection that I ever saw OMD and I definitely haven't seen XTC but, re the letters O and X, needs must...
And of course, I had to do a playlist...
Which filled an afternoon...
The big tree in the garden took on a different shape with the weight of the snow...
...as the beast...
...downloaded even more stuff - tasty out there jazz from the latest recommendation list by internet chum, Tom Hull - his weekly or so opinions are much valued...
Plus a new thing from much admired label Whitelabrecs, via Bandcamp, and things missed yesterday from Chicago, Max Richter and Can...
Also, re all the interaction on my gig list, I was reminded I'd seen Faust at some point - in a small club with lots of smoke (from flares held aloft by the "singer") and construction tools...
Found it on Setlist FM - turned out it was at The Jaffa Cake in August 1997 - and the concert was released as an album in 2005...
Nabbed...
This evening, with a thaw setting in, tea collected from Wong's...
...and "Strictly" with my headphones on, sampling today's new incoming items...
A recommendation to a BlueSky chum...
...and the evening drifted on...
Eventually, lights out time...
A busy day spent at home...
Highlight of the Day : New music...and "Cross"...
Today's New Music:-
