Up just after six and to the kitchen to write this up for Saturday and Sunday...
The view from the office this morning...
...and later...
Anne fixed the door handle...
..and off out we went for breakfast, driving along behind a house on a lorry...
...past Bamburgh Castle...
It exited at the start of Seahouses and on we went through the town and further South to Beadnell, to The Landing, as recommended by Yuill, for breakfast...
A canopy was being removed for the winter...
In...
...and ordered - Avocado Toast with poached egg for Anne...
...Full English Breakfast, also with poached egg, for me...
...with lashings of Americano on the side...
Superb...
Out and found a spot for the car, these the views...
Then, back towards The Landing and down onto the beach for a long leisurely walk...
After heading away from the harbour end of the beach, we went as far as we thought best before returning and walking in the other direction, eventually reaching the harbour...
...and the Limekilns...
...home to a small dove...
Back to the car and a short drive down to Alnwick...
A relaxing walk around the town...
In Oxfam, these...
...the Moeran, it turns out, was bought in Mixed Up in Glasgow in June 2016, also for a quid...
Oh well...
Into the Hardware Store - this sent to chum Geordie Luke of Eddie Howe's Black & White Army...
Anne was on the lookout for anything "interesting"...
Some "interesting" signs stumbled upon...
More walkabout...
To Barter Books, in search of coffee and scones...
Sadly, full...
On the way back to the car, we noted the revamped Alnwick Playhouse and went in...
Lovely...
A deal on scones with jam and clotted cream plus a large coffee for £6 each - result...
Back to the car and a drive further South, to Warkworth - one of our favourite "one street" towns...
A jewelry purchase for Anne from Gray's but the "hare" gallery was closed on a Monday...
A walk down past the church...
...and along the Coquette River ensued...
...with ducks...
Back into the car and another mile South to Amble...
A lovely walk around the harbour...
A wide circular route took us back through the town and...
...eventually, back to the car...
We headed home - it was still only 4pm...
Exciting times at the railway crossing...
Home to relax for an hour or two...
...spoilt by an e-mail from TalkTalk advising our changeover to Fullfibre Broadband was complete - when three routers have failed to arrive at our house, the first being delivered to an address in London, the other two, supposedly expedited replacement orders, never having made it into the hands of the Royal Mail...
Will we get home to find no internet connection at the house??
Stressful...
At six, back to Seahouses to Lewis's Fish Restaurant for tea...
Haddock & Chips for Anne...
Cod & Chips for me...
Tasty...
Home in the dark...
...and another fire required...
Wood tower constructed, firelighters added...
Firelighters lit...
Yowsah!
Look at its wee face...
Success...
170 on "University Challenge, then, we binged the final five episodes of "Winter"...
Enjoyable...
Noted that this happened, 19 years ago today...
At 11:15, to bed with Brian Eno...
A very enjoyable day...
