Up around 7 and writing up yesterday,,,
...before breakfast at 9...
Out at half past...
...arriving at the car park in Whitby at 10...
Anne went off for a wander...
She certainly saw some of the sights of Whitby...
Me?
Here...
Leafleting etc and getting to know fellow performers...
The Merch Table was groaning...
The CBQ stuff remained - a couple sold despite no-one having heard me play yet...
...which was good...
Scanner arrived with his boxes of stuff and then left...
The view from the stage pre opening...
At 11, Pinnel - a half hour set, using only a microphone and i-Pad to work up a soundscape that reminded me in places of the stuff Laurie Anderson used to do...
Prepping, Rovellasca...
Here, his set up...
Rather more complicated than mine...
He entertained the early morning crowd with 40 minutes of drone...
...and samples - many of which were accessed via cassettes...
Compared to some of the other music on offer over the the weekend, the TQ sets appeared to be more experimental...
Then, from Manchester, Gidouille - 40 minutes of what appeared to be completely improvised (although I have no doubt all was meticulously planned) noise, from a selection of very interesting instruments (which, from my only rubbish picture, is unable to be determined), with French dialogue on tape...
I must admit to being rather distracted during their set as, when setting up my equipment at the same time as them, I could not get the laptop to output to the desk, a problem which remained unsolved as they took the stage and so, I just had to leave it till they finished...
Some questions to Edward Spark back home and some Googling - I decided rather than the already tried shut down and start up, a restart might do the trick...
It did indeed...
Relief a plenty!
A very nice introduction and then off I went for 40 minutes of fun...
...with not one but two films - "A Year in Pixels" (from 2018) played overhead while "24 Paintings" (from 2013) was behind me...
...this taken by "the artist" himself...
The others were courtesy the Exec Producer and Gidouille - the first one above, of the room, from Audio Obscura...
Of course a few of the cues were botched but it all held together very well...
...and everything ended exactly on cue...
An excellent reception and I directed the audients to my CDs at the Merch Table to pay for our petrol home...
Out for a break...
...which involved, of course, a chazza visit...
Three for £2...
...and a wander around on the other side of the river...
Back to the hall for coffees then back in to catch Vieon for a very professional set, complete with vocoder and keytar!
With that, we exited, eschewing the evening's acts for a return to Whitby...
In here, on the way back to the car...
Home...
...unpacked the car and then out to The Fox Inn for drinks...
...and on to The Ironstone Miner, where we were delighted to find the cost of our round was half that of the Fox Inn...
The intake level may have influenced our orders at Romeo Pizza...
A walk home...
...to tuck in - they'd thrown in a cheesy garlic bread round re the wait...
Yep, too much - leftovers to the fridge for tomorrow...
Anne enjoyed "Strictly"...
Off to bed...
A good day indeed...
