Another week starts...

But it's Easter Monday so, WFH-wise, it was slightly less onerous for one day...

Spring was coming/here...

..and, as always, it was time for Kunst und Musik...

..including Anne's new piece, which will eventually become a hare...

Breakfast...

This week in the Twitter poll, it's your top 5 albums from 2006...

So, I compiled my top 100...

To be fair, I barely had 100 - but I still managed not to have to include Amy Winehouse...

There is, however, due to bad tagging, an LP from 1996 in amongst this lot - as spotted by one eagle-eyed Twitter-chum...

Tomorrow, I will publish thee whittled down to 50 collection - which will be 49 once I've excised the cuckoo in the nest (yes it's that Iain Ballamy LP - which I should have realised - as it was surely more than 14 years ago that we saw him in a basement club in Edinburgh and I obtained a signed copy of the CD)...

On Thursday, we'll be down to the top 25...

By Friday only ten will remain...

...and, on Saturday - for everyone who doesn't read this, of course, the top 5 will be revealed...

A quick mention for Sumner McKane's album "Two If By Sea" which made it all the way to the top 5, only for me to discover it was released on 31 December 2005...

At the time, according to this here diary and my end of year list for 2006, my top new albums were these, of which, of those released in 2006, only Joanna Newsom's "Ys", mainly due to her, in hindsight, stupid child-like voice, didn't make today's hundred:-

Alice Peacock - Who I Am
The Church - Uninvited Like the Clouds
David Gilmour - On An Island
The Flower Kings - Paradox Hotel (2CD)
Francoise Hardy - Parentheses
Frost* - Milliontown
Grandaddy - Just Like the Fambly Cat
Icon (Wetton/Downes) - Icon II Rubicon
Jakko M Jakszyk - The Bruised Romantic Glee Club (2CD)
Joanna Newsom - Ys
The Killers - Sam's Town
Mathilde Santing - Under Your Charms
Mogwai - Mr Beast
Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
Pet Shop Boys – Fundamental (2CD)
Scissor Sisters - Ta Dah!
Sparks - Hello Young Lovers
Spock's Beard - Spock's Beard
Thom Yorke - The Eraser
Tool - 10,000 Days

In addition, these three "New Releases" from my 2006 list, like Mr McKane's album, actually came out in 2005:-

Kino - Picture
OK Go - Oh No
Violet Archers - The End of Part One

Just noticed I also listed my top ten and they were these - with today's results in brackets:-

1 Sparks - Hello Young Lovers (Top 5)
2 The Flower Kings - Paradox Hotel (Top 25)
3 Spock's Beard - Spock's Beard (Top 10)
4 The Bad Plus - Suspicious Activity (Released 2005)
5 Pet Shop Boys – Fundamental (Top 5 - replaced Sumner McKane)
6 Grandaddy - Just Like the Fambly Cat (Top 5)
7 Wetton/Downes - Icon II Rubicon (Top 50)
8 Muse - Black Holes and Revelations (Top 25)
9 Mathilde Santing - Under Your Charms (Top 25)
10 David Gilmour - On An Island (Top 50)

So includes three of today's top 5, the other 2 were not acquired in 2006 - indeed, loscil only came into the collection in 2019...

And so, over time, musical tastes will change, albeit, it seems, reasonably slightly...

Anyway, a tasty teriyaki based tea...

Anne is top...

...was followed by Queen of the South v Hibernian in the Scottish Cup...

Queens were well on top in the first 30 minutes but couldn't get the goal - and, in the end, Hibs finally got the upper hand and went in 1-0 at half time...

Midway though the second half, there as a good shout for a penalty for QoS, as Dobbie was tripped in the box - but the ref waved play on and, within seconds, Hibs went up the park and slotted home a second on the break...

A few minutes later, with the Doonhamers still fuming, they lost a third...

A good consolation goal came with 5 minutes or so to go, as Maxwell sliced through the Hibernian defence and beat the goalie...

We'd also hit the post right at the end of the first half from a free kick by McCabe.  So, counting the penalty, which would have meant Hibs second wouldn't have happened, we kind of won 3-2...

In reality though, a reversal of this glorious August night back in 2016 when Queens came back from a similar 1-0 down just before half time position to dump Hibs out of the League Cup by 3-1...

That was Dobbie's first game back at the club after his English league adventures, including helping both Swansea and Blackpool win Championship play offs at Wembley...

And the scorer of our 3rd goal that night was Lyndon Dykes, now Scotland's centre forward of choice...

Anyway, after that, the taped final of "University Challenge" as Warwick defeated Magdalene College (or Maudlin College as they like to be called)...

Crispycat University came third with a reasonable 80 points...

Also today, a new discovery, French post rock outfit BRUIT - very much enjoyed...

Lights out....

Highlight of the Day : Queens' goal...
