Updating this first thing before breakfast at home...

Out into the sun...

...and a drive to the Ironbridge Gorge...

Over the Iron Bridge itself...

...which was, unfortunately, undergoing renovations...

...to the lovely wee town on the other side of the river, including its war memorial...

...and a shop to which I had a feeling we might return...

We took a walk along the River Severn, noting the excellent houses overlooking the water...

...and the abandoned power station in the distance...

...through the glades...

...still following the course of the river...

We stopped at an antiques place...

...where your correspondent partook of a pair of Trojan Records cuff links...

Onwards...

...before climbing back up to the road and heading back to the village...

...for lunch...

At a nearby Severn Hospice shop, two 5CD sets were obtained for just two of your English pounds...

Now we left the village heading in the other direction...

...stumbling across the remains of the Bedlam Furnaces...

...where iron ore was once smelted before being sent down the river...

Onwards and over this impressive bridge...

...followed by a further walk through the woods back to the car...

...noting the furnaces across the river...

A short drive to the beautiful little town of Much Wenlock, surprisingly, kind of the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games...

We were greeted by this wee monkey...

A wander around in the sun...

A garden to which I had a feeling we might return...

Loadsa books and CDs in this shop - I swithered over Enid Blyton's "Five Get Into a Fix" - the first book I can remember reading for myself...

...but, in the end, took nothing...

Onwards...

This house seemed to be dated 1682...

I did make a second purchase of the day, picking up a CD by Japanese trance artist Kaito for just twenty of your new pence in this shop...

And, indeed, we returned to the previously pictured garden...

Lovely...

To the Holy Trinity Church...

...which has a very impressive list of its vicars going back to 1236 (everyone loves a list)...

...and a memorial to William Penny Brookes, surgeon, founder of the modern Olympics and general all round good guy it seems...

On to the ruined priory, past the only remaining part of the monastery and...

...the still used priory hall...

You can glimpse the priory through the trees...

Leaving Much Wenlock, we headed to Bridgnorth, which we'd liked the look of this morning when driving through it towards Ironbridge...

We visited the now unused but still looked after by volunteering old ladies St Leonard's...

...which is surrounded in a small cul de sac by a number of other notable buildings...

...and was, today, subject to an invasion of ladybirds...

It was huge inside...

There are two main churches in the town - the other was designed by the famous Thomas Telford and won the day when they were choosing which should continue to serve the community...

We walked through the town towards it...

Past the impressive old town hall...

...and museum...

Here we are...

...just down the street from Telford's home...

...by the ruins of a castle...

This also sports an impressive, if more modern, interior...

Cheeky wee modernist organ...

The hill on which it stands afforded good views over the "low town"...

...to which a funicular runs - however, we did not have enough time to enjoy a journey...

There was, however, time for an ice cream...

...to be enjoyed as we walked back through the town to the car...

A good drive home and fish and chips - the largest portions of fish and chips I've ever seen - thankfully not pictured - so large that even your correspondent could not finish his - were enjoyed for tea, before "Holby City" at the more civilised English time of 8pm (no stupid "River City" down here) and "Bake Off" for Anne as I ripped and listened to new acquisitions and downloaded more Kaita and, indeed Rex the Dog...

Another good day...

Today's artwork, "Trojan Cuff Links In Situ"...

Highlight of the Day : Much Wenlock...
