An acceptable morning...

...and a tasty breakfast...

...at nearby Zeit fur Brot...

Then, a stroll along Eberwalderstrasse...

...to the site of the Berlin Wall Memorial...

...where people were once killed for doing what people do now for a selfie...

We walked on towards Invalidenstrasse and stumbled a cross a demonstration...

...and on towards the Hamburger Bahnhof art galley, passing several interesting sights on the way, including University departments...

...and the Invalidenpark...

...before arriving just after 11...

...and, for the second time of visiting Berlin, deciding that, while it had a lovely book shop and foyer, the exhibition currently running, was not enough to our liking to warrant the steep cost of entry ...

Out, wondering what this was - on checking my pics from the last time we were here, four years ago, I did the same wondering then...

We walked along the banks of the Spree towards the Reichstag...

...noting this large provision of a before and after scenario...

The rain started...

..and so it was deemed lunch time...

Onwards, to the Brandenburg Gate...

...and the very informative and interesting Willy Brandt Forum...

Including his Nobel Peace Prize medal...

Very illuminating - a great man...

Onwards...

To the Gendarmenmarkt with the Konzerthaus and French and German Cathedrals...

Into the German Cathedral, which houses a permanent exhibition on German democracy...

...including various models and ideas for rebuilding the Reichstag...

This was the Nazis' planned seat of State - in scale with the Brandenburg gate...

Down...

...and out...

...and further walking, through Bebelplatz...

...and a quick look at the stalls opposite...

..and on towards Museum Island...

This is one of my favourite photos of the holiday, taken inside the Neue Wache memorial to the war dead of every nation...

Onwards...

...and past Alexanderplatz...

...past the Hackescher Markt and into Sophienstrasse and Mittendrin (in the middle of)...

Coffee and cake time...

Yum...

Past the Sophienkirche and into the arty district around Auguststrasse...

...for a look around before heading back to the hotel for a rest before tonight's shenanigans, which were preceded by a quick tea from a nearby and unpictured takeaway pizzeria...

Onto the U Bahn...

Or, rather, three U Bahns, U2 to Alexanderplatz, U8 to Hermannplatz...

...and U7 to Karl-Marx-Strasse in Neukölln, scene of tonight's concert, which was, of course, the very reason for our trip...

Up on to the street and to the Heimathafen...

Pre gig drinks enjoyed while we could hear the soundcheck coming from the hall...

Then, a surprise, my heroes appeared and proceeded to have dinner...

Anne was impressed...

Finally had ourselves stamped and in we went...

A nice hall...

...and I spotted my gig-watching position...

Old punk and new wave records were played, probably too quietly...

...and a fellow audient was a fan of Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft...

The beast was in position to enjoy a band he had enjoyed from a afar for 38 years...

Opening act, Black Heino, were enjoyable and full of energy...

...but everyone was here for Fehlfarben (mistaken colours)...

The stage was set...

..and the tension mounted - the Exec Producer was up in the back right corner...

...while I had no-one in front of me...

...a wave from the EP...

...drum kit sorted...

...and off we went...

The whole of the 1980 debut LP, "Monarchie und Alltag", regularly hailed by writers and critics as the best ever German LP in the German language...

Messrs Hein and Kemner were on good form as the band blasted its way through the eleven classic tracks...

...including "Militurk"...

...and "Es Geht Voran"...

At one point, pogo-ing broke out behind me...

An absolutely storming rendition the mighty "Paul ist Tot" signaled the end of the first set...

..much to the delight of the fans...

Then, a further set of songs from the more recent albums...

...and off they went again...

...but returned once more, this the view from the Exec Producer's position...

Even after an hour and a half of high energy performance, Herr Hein had his dancing shoes on...

And, of course, all too soon, it was over...

But what a night...

Up to the back of the hall to compare notes with the EP...

...and out...

...for the return trip to Prenzlauer Berg...

Yowsah!!

Today's artwork, "Mistaken Colours"...

Highlight of the Day : Finally Fehlfarben after 38 years for fanboydom...
