Up early once again, though I can't say I recall exactly what I was doing...

We did, however, breakfast at home, that's for sure...

...while listening to some soul music on the CD player...

Now using one speaker for Bluetooth and one to play CDs...

A twitter discussion led me to dig these out...

This disc is an amalgam of...

...these two LPs from 1980/81...

The next thing Fripp did...

...was to reform King Crimson, initially as the combo "Discipline", which went on to be the name of the new quartet's first LP in Autumn of 1981...

This morning, a return to the #Yesathon, with "Close to the Edge"...

"Tales From Topographic Oceans"...

...and "Relayer"...

...before we headed out to the cathedral for a recital

...filmed by the performers, Ruth Hopkins (soprano) and Duncan Appleby (piano)...

Pieces by Purcell, Dowland, Gurney, Gershwin, Britten, Howells, Clark and Boulcom...

The earlier pieces were more to our liking...

Gershwin's "Summertime" is one of my all-time least liked songs...

Not to worry...

A walk up to the University, stopping for a sandwich on the way...

Past the castle...

Into the Grassmarket, where we spotted the ice skaters from last Thursday - the second time I've chanced upon them in the city centre - both times arriving just too late to see any of their performance...

Oh well...

To the Counting House for the second of today's shows, Stand Up Philosophy...

One of the performers was a philosophy professor and we'd have liked to have heard more from him and less from the others - the subject was "happiness" - which is, of course, relative...

Oh well...

We exited, went down some stairs, queued back at the door through which we'd entered the philosophy show and went back into the same room for an excellent and moving comedy hour from Jim Tavaré...

"From Deadpan to Bedpan" tells the story of a horrendous car accident he was involved in 18 months ago which saw him on the brink of death...

No spoilers - get along and see it...

Best show of the day, easily...

Some swift shopping and a couple of buses home...

Listened to Suzanne Vega instead of paying £100 between us to see her live tonight...

Oh well...

A run through the covers set and working on the podcast line up...

That was about it...

Today's artwork, "Relayer"...

Highlight of the Day : Jim Tavaré...
