Soundtracked today by full albums, some very early music and a CD sold and to be dispatched post ripping, having not previously been ripped, despite having been bought in New York in 1999...

This evening, a cat in a box...

The box (and the bag) entered the house due to a, perhaps rash, decision at lunchtime...

At the BHF shop, having already decided to buy these little beauties, a string quartet arrangement of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro (apparently, back in the day, they did this so that people could play operas in their own home - a kind of precursor to records)...

...a best of from the Penguin Cafe Orchestra...

...and a 2CD set of 20th Century flute music - I assure it sounds better than it sounds...

...my gaze turned to the shelf where they keep the art books and I spotted these...

Some mulling over was done, £3 each, and very heavy to get home...

I took the plunge (turns out the set is £110 on Amazon - £85 the best second hand price) and you know I do like a reference book into which I can dip (and a bargain)...

Accordingly, these were brought home in said box and bag, which was later to become a place for Mia the Cat...

Later on this evening, post tasty fish pie sans baked beans (which would, of course, have been welcome if on the menu - or any menu really), to Murrayfield Ice Rink - a place which has a strange effect on me - there's something just alluring about the place - tonight it was done out nicely for a show in the Fringe...

A quite breathtaking performance - or rather two performances  by Canadian Ice Troupe, Le Patin Libre...

No photos allowed but here's (a) a short clip on Youtube and...

(b) the whole of the amazing second piece they performed, while the audience, comprising around a hundred, it must be said, rather cold souls, was right down on the ice with them (the first was viewed from the bleachers)...

They comprise four ex-figure skaters and a fifth member who joined as technician, ended up writing and performing all the music they use and, indeed, skating with them too..

Top notch...

Home around 9:30 and the music and videos from the show sought out...

Rest of the evening spent ripping, listening and rejigging the first 16 days of August reflecting podcast, which I'll now need to record tomorrow...

Today's artwork, "Cat in a Box in a Bag"...

Highlight of the Day : Artistry on ice...
