Happy birthday to me...

Out for another day of driving and visiting...

First stop, a quick visit to Canonteign Falls...

Then, on, to Buckfast Abbey...

It looks so new as, despite the Abbey being 1,000 years old this year (founded in 1018), it was closed down by Henry VIII, later destroyed and then rebuilt on the old foundations in the early 20th Century...

It is home too, to some beautiful gardens...

This is the not open to the public abbey where the monks carry out their works...

Lunch outdoors, with this view...

A walk was undertaken nearby...

Then, back into the car and we drove over Dartmoor - spotting some of its famous ponies along the way...

We eventually made it to Tavistock, where 3 CDs and some artwork were purchased and the town was enjoyed...

On the way back home, we spotted a bird of prey...

Definitely an eagle...

...and more ponies...

After driving almost 800 miles without incident, an idiot with a trailer, on the wrong side of the road, nearly ran us off it - we escaped with scraped alloys...

Home and ripping and listening to today's acquisitions and enjoying a beer, before heading down the road to The Lamb...

We had been the only two in on Wednesday but, tonight, there were around 20 diners, including me and the Exec Producer...

...who enjoyed scallops to start while I partook of the best ever pea & mint soup...

...followed by duck for the EP and a very tastily cooked steak with onion rings, red wine sauce and triple cooked chips for the birthday boy...

I pushed the boat out with a finale of sticky toffee pudding with Devon clotted cream (and clotted arteries) to round things off...

A walk up the hill and home...

...where this was written up, tomorrow's podcast was uploaded early and Graham Norton was watched...

Back on the road North tomorrow...
