Rather a lot of music today, with shuffleplay to the fore...

Up early and out for a cheeky wee coffee while Anne got ready for the day...

I picked up this magazine, mainly due to the inclusion of an interview with Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft - but it also included a free CD...

A quick read over from the hotel...

...and taking in the views...

Then, back to the room to sort some stuff out, while Anne took the opportunity to grab a coffee...

Car sorted and out to the pick up zone...

A sporty wee Cinquecento - with soft top, which, of course, we never trusted ourselves to remove...

A short drive took us to Traben-Trarbach, the first town we stayed in after discovering this region back in 2003...

Breakfast was enjoyed...

...followed by a walk around the town in the hot sun...

We had breakfasted in Trarbach, which lies on one side of the bridge, Traben is on the other - as appears to be the case with many of the small double-named towns on the banks of the Mosel...

Over we went...

The beast was about its business with its Exec Producer on the banks of the Mosel river...

Back to Trarbach...

...enjoying the views on the way...

Back to the car and onwards...

...passing a new bridge over the river...

Our destination was Bernkastel-Kues, which has notoriously difficult to attain parking spaces...

We had an agreement of sorts re a man waiting on his wife before vacating his space but, just as his wife arrived and they started to reverse out, an old couple walked in front of our car, denying us the ability to move and a car appeared from nowhere and swiped the promised space...

The language uttered was not German...

...but the views were good...

After some time driving around we finally secured a spot on the other side of the river in the car park of Edeka supermarket for a few Euros...

Then, took a walk around the town...

This is the Vinothek at which we spent an entire afternoon in 2003 after having taken a boat trip here from Traben Trarbach...

We were both very much the worse for wear for an outlay of just nine of your European Euros each...

Today, the entry fee has doubled to eighteen...

We crossed back without partaking this time...

...and into Bernkastel's main square...

...and to a nearby Schnell Imbiss for sausage based lunch...

...which we enjoyed within a few steps of our soon to become base in the town...

As we waited for the "witching hour" at which we could pick up the keys, beer enticed...

...while vines protected us from the sun...

Around 2:30, we got the keys and gained entry, this the view from the window...

A spacious flat indeed...

...with a home-made soundtrack of Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft...

...this shot reminding we were soon to be off to Documenta 14...

But, for now, out on to the terrace...

...where Edeka purchases were enjoyed...

...as were the views...

...and some reading...

Cheer up Mr CBQ!

Our goal here was to relax...

But we were soon off out walking again...

...and back over the bridge to get the car, having secured a (month-long!) pass for the main car parks of the town...

We took a walk along the bank before getting the car...

We liked the geese, most likely the same as, or descendants of, those we'd photographed here five years ago with Count Brodski and Penny...

Having secured a spot near the town centre (once many of the tourists had left for the day), we returned to the apartment, including the neighbours advert for the upcoming Sparks LP...

A home-made dinner was enjoyed...

... along with some Mosel red wine, believed by brother-in-law Bobby not to exist...

Late on, some TV was flicked through...

...before we called it a night...

A good and relaxing first day proper...

Highlight of the Day : Relaxing...
