Up and out early, post breakfast...

A walk along the road that goes around the back of the town - grave street...

...and back through the last surviving gate...

...past the house of the people from whom we were renting...

Down to the square, where flood waters are recorded on the side of one of the houses...

...the highest level having been recorded in 1784...

A road trip followed...

First to Veldenz and its Schloss...

...which, this plaque advised, was closed to the public...

Mention must be made of this guy, who exercised his dog by driving along having it chase his van...

Anyway, up onto the hills...

...noting the fauna...

The gate was, as predicted, locked...

...giving us this tantalising view...

I noticed some steps leading further up the hill...

...and off we went...

We discovered an open gate...

...and I ventured in to take some pics...

Not sure what was going on here but it didn't look good for the wooden bear...

Anne did not cross the threshold...

Back down the hill...

...noting some juiciness...

...and a stream...

...and some strange mushrooms...

On to the town of Piesport - famous for its wine of course...

We, however, given the time of day and my having to drive...

...enjoyed alternative goodies...

...before continuing our walk around...

We drove up the hill to a vantage point enjoyed by many tourist buses...

...before heading on, away from the river, to the largest town in the region, Wittlich...

...where this was partaken of...

...followed by these...

...before we headed home...

A Meg the Black Cat lookalike was in our neighbour's garden...

Out for pre dinner drinks at...

...Bitchen...

Despite overcast skies, it was still pretty hot...

Into Germania for dinner...

Lovely soup...

...a map of the Mosel and some bier...

...and a schnitzel that trumped last nights...

Double yum!

Another wee cat spotted on the way home...

...via the ice cream shop....

...and a walk along the river...

...ending the day back on the terrace as the sun went down again...

Highlight of the Day : Schnitzel...probably...

What a lovely place. I'm exhausted and full to bursting after enjoying all that!

LOL it's actually more exhausting to sort all the pics and write this up than it was to live what I'm describing!!
