Out into the dark - heading for the 7:30 train...
Out into the dark - heading for the 7:30 train...
On Princes St in plenty of time...
However, the train was cancelled - good start to the weekend...
Accordingly, the platform was a trifle overpopulated as we waited for the 8:00...
Luckily, or thanks to my standing exactly where a door to a carriage with unbooked seats halted, we managed to get seats...
We made our way down the East Coast...
..arriving at King's Cross around 1pm...
...and making our way over to Whitechapel...
...where the nice people at the hotel let us into our room early and, indeed, upgraded the room...
The view from etc...
Out...
..and a walk up Commercial St, past Culpeper...
...to Spittalfields for lunch...
..and a look around...
...before heading to Soho...
...for a wee look around a couple of Record shops...
We bumped into Noel Gallagher outside Sister Ray...
Anne enjoyed the settee at Phonica...
...while I found something that I liked...
...and, in the basement of Harold Moore's, this...
To John Snow for refreshments...
...before heading to the Angel Islington, taking a detour to Camden Lock...
...and on...
Back out into the dark and a short walk from Angel...
...to Sadler's Wells...
...for this...
Sadly, Soft Machine were not involved...
A full house...
...at this excellent venue...
New music by Sally Beamish - most of which sounded like she couldn't hold a tune in a bucket - which is just the way I like it - but with a few beautiful passages...
All told though, whilst still very much enjoyable and despite the advantage of mostly tuneless music, the dancing was a little too much in the "traditional" mode for your correspondent...
These shots were taken during the curtain calls...
By the time we emerged, Anne deemed it too late for a full blown anniversary celebrating meal so we settled for a couple of burritos from a nearby burrito outlet - which we'd coincidentally visited last time we were at Sadler's Wells...
Celebrations were not entirely eschewed however, as celebratory Sadler's Wells mugs were acquired for back home coffees...
Train home...
...spotting this possibility on the way...
Happy anniversary to the EP and me...
Lights out...
Highlight of the Day : Sadler's Wells...
