Up - and these the views from the window - overcast...
A pathetic attempted waffle at the self service buffet breakfast...
Suffice to say there were no instructions..
Out we checked and off we drove....
First stop was the Blue Mountain Resort...
The weather did not help with the fact that this was a deserted in the early morning purpose built holiday "resort" for people interested in skiing...
We continued on our way...
Next stop, the rather more picturesque Thornbury, whose harbour was enjoyed...
...including this rather stern warning re tampering with stuff - we did not tamper...
Still overcast though...
Onwards again, after having enjoyed some conversation with a group of "in their prime" ladies taking a walk around the harbour to enjoy the helpful signs they had previously erected (none shown - unless they were responsible for the lifebelt one but I don't think so)...
Through Meaford - we did not stop this time - the weather though, was picking up...
Next stop was Owen Sound...
We partook of some tourist information before taking a walk around...
Similar to Collingwood re now abandoned port silos...
Into the town...
...for a wander...
...and some refreshment...
Then, onwards - our drive today took almost five hours, including three shortish stops...
...the last of which, before the final push to the top of the Bruce Peninsula, was Wiarton...
...where lunch was enjoyed...
Onwards for the last 50 miles or so, the road mainly looking like this...
...to the small port of Tobermoray, our base for today and tommorow...
We arrived at our motel to be told a "plumbing problem" had goosed our room...
...but the young man had booked us into alternative accommodation on the other side of the harbour - where these wee monkeys awaited us...
The alternative accommodation afforded better views...
...but did resemble a chalet at 1960's Butlins...
Not to worry - by now we were used to not staying in the homes/rooms we'd booked - Toronto had been cancelled a week before we flew and we had quickly had to rearrange; in Niagara we were accidentally shown to the wrong room (which was a better room); in Collingwood there was the swimming pool machinery incident; and now, this...
We had, at this point, nothing booked for our final two nights...
Out for a walk around the town...
..and to the small brewery, where their wares were enjoyed...
...by two weary travellers...
I never did get to sample a BeaverTail - maybe one day...
We did, however, sample the local fish and chips, before taking a trip round to Big Tub Harbour - we were on Little Tub...
From here we could see the car ferry which takes daily trips across Lake Huron to Manitoulin Island...
While we did not take this, a boat was on the agenda...
There are a couple of sunken ships at the far end of Big Tub Harbour, just below the surface...
Back to base...
...more Blue Jays were enjoyed before we turned in...
Lights out...
Highlight of the Day : Bruce Peninsula scenery...
