Up at seven and updating this, soundtracked by 1965 John Coltrane - then some comedy on Youtube, inspired by a search for Richard Herring footage...

Picked up Dr Prog at 10 and we headed into town to the library where they were selling off some withdrawn CDs, one of which happened to be a tatty old copy of John Coltrane’s “Ascension” for 60p...

I partook - as I did too of a 2CD set of Monteverdi’s “Vespro della beata Vergine”, along the way borrowing Coltrane’s “Meditations” and a disc from this year by Swiss jazzer Thierry Lang...

As we walked to the former premises of Reptile Records, we noted the Festival is now in full swing...

Lunch at the shop that used to be mine and then I bade farewell to the doc and headed to Waverley Station to pick up mum’s old chum Pat – she was through for a rare visit to Loanhead, the two old ladies heading out for lunch and a natter re the old days...

Home in time for Anne to take the car to her mum’s for the two of them to go to Tynecastle for Hearts friendly against Blackburn Rovers (1-1 draw)...

Back home, I whiled away the afternoon, working on the cover for the new LP and keeping an eye on Queen of the South’s first league match of the season away at Dundee – they lost 1-0, missing a potentially equalising penalty and then still being unable to score even after Dundee were reduced, in quick succession, first to ten and then to nine men with fifteen minutes to go...

Usual start then...

In the evening some telly and an Indian – a quiet night in – working on a Sparks compilation for brother-in-law Bobby...

Highlight of the Day : A meet with Dr Prog...
