Big playlist today, mainly due to new stuff coming in - more on that later...
Nice sky outside as I did some early morning work...
No, I didn't - I ought to have been writing up the last 3 days of this but, instead, went down an Ed Sheeran shaped rabbit-hole re the support act firing and people abandoning the tour thing re Palestine - and put up a couple of posts re my "Everything Ends" LP, recorded in June 2023 in response to Sheeran's lax idea of plagiarism - finally released a year later...
It garnered spins and even a sale - so that was worth it...
Today...
...post a quick breakfast, the Exec Producer was off to that London for the Abba Experience and a David Bowie exhibition, with Lynn, her sister Sheila and four of Sheila's chums...
We used the front door as the step, finished off yesterday afternoon by Dan the Man, is off limits for a week or so...
A lift for Anne to Lynn's then, I parked the car at the bottom of the hill for later, and took a bus to that Glasgow...
Two LPs of Capital Models playing Bob Dylan, soundtracked most of my day out...
An hour after embarking, we arrived...
I said I was visiting Glasgow...
...but...
...really...
...I was visiting...
...Missing - arriving at 10:42...
...and exiting at 13:10, having purchased 45 CDs for just £15 - they have reduced a massive swathe of discs down to 50p or 3 for £1...
To the nearby Sir John Moore for lunch...
Meanwhile, the ladies had arrived...
At 14:40 I was on the bus...
...and heading home 5 minutes later...
Today's haul...
Most of these artists were unknown to me but, for 33p each, worth the "risk"...
Anne and Lynn were unaware of any risk taking...
...as I made my way home...
Into the car at the bottom of the hill and home in a couple of minutes...
Do you ever buy music about which you know next to nothing?

I find, once back home, listening, that those have usually stood me in good stead re my choices…
And, of course, if they are offered at 3 for £1, that helps with the level of risk too…
Stickers were removed...
No one in Anne's party was aware of any sticker removal...
...before they eventually headed back to the hotel...
The rest of the night, for me, into the wee small hours, was spent a ripping and a listening...
And so, why did I buy each of these...
I liked the songs being covered on this and the instrumentation...
A couple of people I did already know and like, this was one...
This was taken for being on the Warp label - it is, however, disappointing rap...
A disc of power pop, featuring Peter Buck from REM on guitar...
I had a download of this kind of proggy LP by Phil Collins' son already...
More power pop - recorded very loudly indeed but tuneful and enjoyable...
A New Zealand disc but with a connection to the Knitting Factory label...
It's good...
Another artist I know - and, recorded in Bergen, so, you know...
I liked the packaging and the instrumentation...
Again, the sleeve notes looked interesting - turned out to be prog with a Spock's Beard connection...
The only classical disc taken - an interesting programme, including a few "modern" items...
Swedish punk rock - I do like this disc, despite the rather raucous vocal affectations included...
Some laid back funk with an AWB connection...
This too looked interesting re the line up and is, again, very good funky stuff...
You can't go wrong with Keaton Henson, even if you already have the download...
I had no idea what this might be but, again, it was the instrumentation which clinched it...
Turned out to be good singer/songwriter-ish stuff...
On LCD Soundsystem's DFA label, ergo, probably good - which was correct...
Two more singer/songwriter things with good instruments on board...
The voice, however, is an acquired taste, but a taste which I am coming to acquire...
More punky/power pop stuff - again very enjoyable...
Two discs by previously unheard of French pop star - this is a double...
...but the 2nd disc turned out to be this live LP...
Oh well...
I thought this would be some kind of ambient LP but it's another singer/songwriter, female this time...
However, this not very good rap disc by one Chris Orrick was mistakenly inside the cover (1st of 3 errors - all of which were sorted by downloads and burns to CD-Rs)...
A film soundtrack, again taken for the instruments used - turned out to be excellent stuff...
...and this, from Vancouver, (taken due to being Canadian!) is also very good in a quasi shoegaze type of way...
This, taken for being on the Runegrammofon label, is a bit glitchy and out there - it will take some listens to get anything out of it...
I have a few LPs already by Canadians, Wintersleep, so was happy to find their debut for 33p...
...and I recently discovered Voxtrot via their excellent 2026 LP - which it turns out is only their second - this, their first, is from 2007 and is also great...
Another misfile but this is excellent, again from a known quantity, The Thing's Mats Gustafsson...
This was in the box in error - I took this one back after discovering it over lunch and got a 50p rebate and told just to keep it...
Bought this due to the covers covered and the instruments used...
Another one (Zomes is the duo) taken for its instrumentation - and, another wise take...
This name seemed familiar and I do indeed have an LP of him playing David Bowie's "Diamond Dogs" in its entirety (which has soundtracked much of the writing of today's entry) - again, an interesting individual and worth a punt...
I took this because of the expansive lyric booklet - and the instrumentation and the cover - turned out to be another winner - "doom-soul" apparently...
Another country-fied singer-songwriter disc - reasonable...
Again, it was the instruments...
Good sludge metal of sorts but I didn't know that - I took it due to the sleeve notes...
This is a weird disc whose cover intrigued - but I will discover tomorrow, with the help of Norwegian chum Svein-Frode that this is indeed a hidden gem - Mr Eggleston is an accomplished photographer and musician...
This live French disc - taken because it might have been a good French pop star scenario - was one of only a couple of disappointments in the intake - but I need to give it a better listen...
There's a cover of Bowie's "Scary Monsters" on board, which is a bonus of sorts...
This, however, was up there with the best of the batch - taken due to its cover and the instruments used...
This was taken as it's on Bella Union - and the cover looked good - it, itself, is not bad...
Another taken due to the cover - and it turned out to be more tuneful power pop - no bad thing...
I thought this was a German singer but, no, she's Swiss...
Another chance taken - another disc which pulled it off...
Only after I'd left the shop did it occur to me that these Aussies are probably the equivalent of dreadful manufactured UK boy bands - but I'd taken it for the classic tunes across these 2 discs (2 LPs for 1) so, again, worth it...
Took this, as I noted Jeremy Stacey, of King Crimson, played the drums...
No idea of this French pop star - nice book-type deluxe package - with a disc of bonuses but nothing too out of the ordinary...
Finally, another mis-file - and one which I was unable to download from anywhere - I ended up having to record a full manual play through on Spotify, complete with adverts, and then having to edit it and split it into tracks to burn it to a CD-R - another one taken for being on Runegrammfon but, like MoHa! above, disappointingly hard going...
This abomination was inside the cover - I say abomination but it's actually not that bad really...
The very last one (promise!) is this - which, it turns out, I bought already from Missing back in December! It's good but do I need 2 copies? No...
Not to worry...
By the time I'd finished all of that ripping and listening, it was time for bed...
