The views from the office this morning, the last day of my 67th year (i.e. 67 tomorrow)...
Post breakfast, took Anne to her 9am Pickleball session then drove, slowly, out to Roslin for today's rehearsal - via Loanhead and the old house, now festooned with cars and a truck - but with new windows...
Our rehearsal set up is a wee bit like this...
Started sharp at 10:30...
...and played through all three sets for June - with a couple of 10-15 minutes breaks between for coffee...
Home around 4pm or so...
Then, post a salmon based tea...
...some TV...
...and an early birthday cake, of sorts...
...to the machines and a quick edit of today's sessions...
Total recording time was 3 hrs 48 mins, which, when distilled to one take of each of the 48 songs we covered, took it down to 2 hrs 40 mins...
But almost half of the tracks have errors which need to be addressed if we are to have a "definitive" version of the set to play along with at home...
That is for another day...
Meanwhile, CD Box 124, from Herbie Hancock to Tubby Hayes...
I chose this by trumpeter, Eddie Harris...
It's basically jams, with an all star cast, recorded at Morgan Studios in London in 1974 and includes contributions from Chris Squire, Alan White and Tiny Kaye of Yes, Steve Winwood, Albert Lee and Jeff Beck...
It's more "interesting" than excellent, I'd say...
No time to listen yet though and so, that too, is for another day...
To bed just before midnight...
Year 67 over...
Highlight of the Day: Playing with the band...
