And off into another week...
Some books and a watch...
Egg based breakfast today...
Birthdays for keyboardist Paul, still not 100% and unable to participate with the band...
...and of German chum, Birgit, whom I first met in 1980 when she was 14 and I taught her and her sister English at a school in the middle of Germany..
She's now the post mistress on an island in the North of Scotland...
Seen here with a birthday present paddle, courtesy Facebook...
60 today - her mum and dad Gudrun and Ingo, Birgit's partner, Norrie and, on the left, sister Connie are all at Birgit and Norrie's island home...
Back at Crispycat Towers, choosing more CDs from the CD boxes...
No 126, Dave Holland to Bobby Hutcherson...
Chose Freddie Hubbard's first release for Creed Taylor's CTI, "Red Clay"...
...released in 1970 (coincidentally, recorded on the Exec Producer's birthday that year)
Superb line up, with a bonus take of the title track from a live gig in 1971...
Box 127, Bobby Hutcherson to JJ Johnson...
Chose this from Bobby...
...a sterling set including contributions from Herbie Hancock and Joe Chambers...
Box 128, JJ Johnson to Gene Krupa...
Chose this relatively recent acquisition on the Edition label from 2009...
Dave Kane, featuring Matthew Bourne on Fender Rhodes...
...and, finally for today, with none of these being aired apart from Freddie Hubbard...
Box 129, Joachim Kuhn to the Mahavishnu Orchestra
The Lemon Juice Quartet - more about this one tomorrow...
The autographs indicate having seen them live (correct)...
Suffice to say, superb, even though it's a CD-R from the band...
Out to Roslin for 1pm for a comparatively short session with the band...
Bits and pieces with few full songs played - so, honing in on problems...
A lot of coughing going on from Martin and me...
By the time I got home and set about editing the session and sending it out, Anne was off to Pickleball, so, the podcast was prepped - recorded and uploaded later this evening...
Included three versions of Mr Spark's "Poshgirl", two involving me...
On telly this evening, we finished off Season 9 of "The Black List" - no sign of Season 10 yet on any free sources...
Meanwhile, the beast's hair, what little is left of it, was getting a bit wild...
...as it headed to bed...
Highlight of the Day: Catching up on CD choices...
