Playlist
Up at 6:30 and immediately fired up FADR to remove the annoying vocals from the Asaf Sirkis album...
Success on a plate - a bit like my breakfast today...
...the second day of the weekend...
Anne was out in the garden...
I was working on the podcast...
How I make the podcasts (Total Time Approx 7 hours - plus an optional extra hour if compiling notes)
Part I - Compilation (2.5 - 3 hours)
1. Create a "smart" playlist of all acquisitions since the previous podcast by using "date added" parameter
2. Split into categories e.g. Leftfield, Prog, Jazz, Classical, Ambient, Pop, Rock, Live, Singles etc etc
3. Determine the number of LPs in each category
4. Determine how many LPs from each category will be featured
5. From those, determine the 7 New LPs of the Day and the 7 Older LPs of the Day
6. To those, add the two CBQ related LPs and the remainder of the chosen LPs
7. Chose one track from each LP and create the podcast playlist
8. Put the tracks into the correct order - listen back to ensure no clunkers have been accidentally included - if they have, make the necessary changes
Part II (Optional) - Background (1 hour) (stupidly, today I chose to do this - took an absolute age)
9. Make notes on each track
Part III - Personalising (30 Mins)
10. Once happy with all included music, record the spoken links - use any notes compiled or just chat through
Part IV - Mixing & Creation (45 mins)
11. Add all the chosen music tracks into Audacity and "normalise" to ensure level volumes across the podcast
12. Add spoken links and put each track and link into the correct place for the mix
13. Crossfade all the elements, apply any necessary edits, fade ins, fade outs etc
14. Export the finalised MP3 of the whole show
Part V - Playback (2.5 hours)
15. Listen to the podcast to ensure no glitches or errors etc
Part V - Post Production & Uploading (45 Mins)
15. Create the cover
16. Write up the notes, tracklist and list of source recordings
17. Upload the show to Mixcloud and add the tags, notes, tracklist and list of source recordings
18. Delete the 10th last show and publish the new show
Part VI - Inevitable Disappointment (Infinity)
19. Sit back and wait for almost no-one to listen
Mid afternoon, over to see Mary at Roseburn...
Not the best - under the weather with a bad infection and unable to function really...
Hopefully she will improve...
Back home, I noted problems with part of the storage and so set about trying to sort it...
A huge pile of DVD box sets came crashing down on my face...
Owyah!
Two new holes but I'll live...
Eventually, done...
...and some relaxing and listening...
...pre a tasty fish parcels based tea...
...followed by some telly - today we watched Friday's "Graham Norton" with Taylor Swift; and the inevitable "FBI"s...
More work on the podcast late on...
All the links (or so I thought) recorded, ready for the mixing session tomorrow morning...
Bed at midnight...
Weekend over yet again...
Highlight of the Day : Podcasting...
