At 1:30, we drove to Jane & Bob's to give Jane her 60th birthday present - a prospective trip to Salzburg and The Sound of Music...
At 2, leaving Anne to chat, I was out and onto a bus to Haymarket...
Unlike yesterday, for some reason, I had completely forgotten to bring any headphones...
Luckily it was only a 10 minute trip to the Scots Guards Club where, in the garden at the back, the team had commenced celebrating chums Gary and Janine's upcoming birthdays on the 19th...
At 2:25, a five minute walk to La Casa for a late lunch...
Various starters enjoyed, this, mine...
The wine and Prosecco were flowing...
Mains arrived - both my opposite number, Craig and I went for the "Mixed Grill"...
Just as well a third of the plate was salad!
Top nosh all round - Christine, Gary and Bernie to my right...
Janine, Wendy, Willie and Ronnie to my left...
Yum...
The wine continued to flow...
...as did cocktails for J&W...
Sweets were partaken of - brulee cheesecake for Mr CBQ...
...and Happy Birthday was sung...
...and celebrated...
...as small be-candled cakes arrived...
...and were duly attended to...
Limoncello rounded things off...
2.5 hours after arriving, we made our way back to Haymarket...
...and spent a couple of hours in the Mad Hatter...
Another 2 hours later, with Bernie, Willie, Craig, Ronnie and Christine having departed, the final quartet of me, Gaz, Janine and Wendy returned to the Guards for nightcaps...
I left after a couple, Janine followed shortly afterwards, leaving Wendy and Gary heading into the night on the Jack Daniels...
A bus to the Zoo and pick up from Anne and I was home pre 9pm...
Was happy to send the note below to Prog Rock Willie - who had been very kindly bigging up my music and my podcasts to the others earlier tonight...
Good man...
Bed by 11, having already fallen asleep and dreamt I was already in my bed...
