A day of stats...

Playlist

Massive playlist today because, see below...

Up just after 6...

Analysing Bandcamp sales and Plays at end of 3rd quarter of 2025...

Turnover is already up 16% on 2024's total...

Numbers of sales are up 5% over the 2024 total...

Downloads are up 55% versus the whole of 2024...

Plays are already higher for 2025 than 2024...

After a continuing year on year decline from a high in 2017, average turnover per sale so far this year is up 10% on 2024...

If I was on Spotify and if they paid me, which is unlikely, I'd be making 50 times as much by being on Bandcamp...

Gave "Shostakovich" a listen, due out in January...

Downloading some new things, mostly from Prog Rock Willie...

Joined the gym for the umpteenth time (in an attempt to strengthen my legs for the future) but too ill (since Monday night now) to go today...

Updating LPs of the Day, Week & Month...

Here, my LPs of the month for 2025 so far...

Compiling latest Top 60 LPs of 2025, so far...

Just so much great new music coming out week after week...

Making sure they are all amongst the 750 LPs in the mobile music listening Samsung phone...

Then, playing LPs added to my iTunes in 2014...

Then, analysing records actually bought (i.e. physical versions acquired) in their year of issue...

In my first 10 years of LP buying, 1972-1981, I averaged 13 a year...

But, from 2022 to now, the average has dropped to just 8...

LPs bought in the year of issue 1972-1981 135 (13)
LPs bought in the year of issue 1982-1991 322 (32)
LPs bought in the year of issue 1992-2001 163 (16)
LPs bought in the year of issue 2002-2011 206 (21)
LPs bought in the year of issue 2012-2021 172 (17)
LPs bought in the year of issue 2022-2025 032 (08)
Total over 53 years 1,030 (19)

In the last 10 years, I have averaged 13 a year...

LPs bought in the year of issue 2016-2025 130 (13)

Of course, I now "acquire" a shitload more brand new music than I ever have - thanks to the software I have which allows me to download and keep stuff on a hard drive rather than buying the CD - which I would rip and keep on a hard drive...

Anyway...

Meanwhile Anne was doing real work on her decoration project...

Lunch...

Very tasty unpictured freshly made home made soup and a smoked salmon and coleslaw roll...

Accompanied by two of "Hotel Costiera"...

Another DL from Willie...

Then, to adding boxes of CDs to Discogs - the first additions since July - I really "need" to do some every day I'm in the house...

In general, it takes around 30 seconds per disc...

I also need to keep a note of any that aren't in the Discogs Database, like these two...

Then, listening to Chilean Prog from Hesse Kassel - which, upon reading some background, led me to download and listen to more Chilean prog, from Chercan...

Then, more John Coltrane, after reading up on last night's 60 year old to the day concert...

The day after the concert I listened to last night (i.e. 60 years ago today), JC took his then 7 piece band into Camelot, Lynwood, Washington State, and they recorded “Om”, released as a 29 minute edit taken from a 6 hour (!) jam session…

“Ascension”-esque…

Far out man...

Six hours - imagine the racket they made...

Anyway...

Tea...

Very tasty unpictured Prawn & N'duja Pasta...

Two x "FBI"...

Anne to "Portrait Artist of the Year"...

Me to compiling Playlists of music added in 2014, 2015, 2016 (2,500 hours between those 3 years!), 2024 and 2025 (1,600 hours between those 2) but showing in my Apple Music as never having been played...

Of course a lot of it has been played (e.g. via phone and CD players) but just hasn't been recorded by the system...

...and discussing the situation with Edward Spark via WhatsApp...

Shuffle of the 2025 Playlist...

One last analysis...

In the last 7 days, I've added 174 hours of music to the library...

7 x 24 hour days is....

168 hours...

So far, of that 174 hours, I've listened to 11 hours (7.5%)...

Anyway...

Bed at 11:30, with Big Big Train...

Highlight of the Day : Analysing...
