Xmas Day!!

Up, not too early...

...and ready for action...

Presents awaited...

...but we breakfasted first...

Then, hitting play re the "Best Xmas EP in the World...Ever!", off we went...

All of Anne's presents bar two were (not very good) surprises...

...and many were chocolate based, under orders as I had been, not to get her anything...

As for my haul, the Bowie book was a top notch surprise - the rest, I'd either bought myself or been present at the point of present purchase...

Chocolate money...

...times two...

A chocolate orange (plus a tasty gift card) from all the grand nephews...

A bottle of Port...

The remastered "Killer" with extensive sleeve notes and a contemporaneous concert recording...

The remastered "School's Out" with extensive sleeve notes and a contemporaneous concert recording...

Roger Waters' Redux of "The Dark Side of the Moon", my LP of the year...

The aforementioned book on David Bowie, by his childhood (since the age of 8) friend and long term music and travelling companion, Geoff MacCormack...

An LP I've been looking to re-own for a goodly number of years...

A box set of crackly old Rock'n'Roll I first bought from Readers' Digest back in 1976 - sadly, without the box itself it turns out...

As for Anne...

A lovely jumper...

Lovely slippers...

A book of one-liners...

A box of After Eight Chocolates...

A set of headphones for her to plug into her iPad for better listening...

A holder for all her paint brushes...

"The Chase" card game....

...erm, more sweets...

A chocolate orange from the great-nephews...

Orange Smarties - everyone knows they are the best kind...

Actual After Eights...

...and this year's Milano Jukebox - black and white sleeve due to low ink scenario...

Off to Bonnyrigg hospital, arriving around 10:45 to wish my old mum a Merry Xmas...

She was unwell this morning and so wasn't able to get out of bed...

She was, however, perfectly capable of comedy faces...

Presents were opened and enjoyed...

...and the day's televisual offerings were considered...

Sister Sheila visited in the afternoon and recorded the gifts received...

Meanwhile, back home, Ike was given a spin...

...before, around 2:15, we headed to Jane and Bobby's...

Rafa was wearing his present from Kitty...

Some top notch deli fayre was received from in absentia Keith and Maureen and a bottle of wine from nephew Craig...

From Bob, Jane, Olly and Kitty, an intriguing pottery class awaits Anne while six bottles of Germany's finest Weissbier accompanied your correspondent home later on...

This year's family calendars were opened and enjoyed...

As usual, Kitty complained about every lovely picture of her...

She doesn't realise there are no bad pics of her...

Granny Mary enjoyed perusing the family...

Fun was being had...

Rafa liked the wrapping paper better than some of the things he received...

Bob's mum Betty...

...and Auntie Rae were also in attendance...

The grannies love Rafa...

The tree was up to the usual standards...

Appetisers were also top notch - Kitty had assisted with the bellini's...

Olly was now looking forward to a trip with us to Dumfries next Sunday for Stephen Dobbie's testimonial match, Queen of the South XI v Scotland XI...

The kids watched Granny opening some presents...

Bob wasn't feeling too great...

Downstairs, the table was set...

...and final preparations were underway...

Crackers were pulled...

Timings were noted for posterity...

Olly and Kitty were "helping"...

...and noting...

...that I was recording...

Let the meal begin!

Kitty concentrated on not spilling anything...

Two sets of turkey, red and white meat, pigs in blankets, stuffing, carrots and parsnips, roast potatoes and cheesy Brussel sprouts...

Cranachan Meringue Ring...

Roulade...

In the distance, Christmas pudding flavoured cheesecake...

Good times - sadly though, Bob had to retire due to being unwell re perhaps something he ate yesterday...

Hopefully, he would enjoy some leftovers tomorrow...

The ladies around the table, captured from above...

A very welcome lift home ensued from nephew Olly for Granny Mary and, then, for us...

Meanwhile, in Gensungen-Felsberg...

Manu and Jorg were celebrating with their family, the renovations on the house are looking superb...

And so, Xmas over for another year - a busy but extremely enjoyable day indeed...

Highlight of the Day : It was Xmas Day...
