Ian Sclater - It's Weird In Here
Cloudland Blue Quartet - Sparklemusik
Up and bringing this up to date...
I was ten days behind, now I am up to date...
Anne went out to take some things to her mum...
I prepped for today's "tuition" session with old chum Ian Sclater...
Then, I ran through some of the songs not currently being played by Capital Models, despite being in or having been in, the repertoire...
...and posted up my 19 LPs of the 104 I bought at age 19...
I looked back at this day on each of the years covered by the blog and gave this record, bought 15 years ago today, a spin...
Also discovered that, coincidentally, it was on this very day, 16 years ago, that Ian and I finished off the mixing of his LP, "It's Weird in Here"...
Word re Kitty - she is holidaying at Tamarindo Beach on the Pacific coast for the next week or so...
Equipment possibly required collected together and, post a quick lunch, off in the car over to Holyrood and Ian's place - complete with very cute Franco the Dog...
We spent around 3.5 hours working on Ian starting to use a new to him set up for recording...
...producing a very rough indeed 1:36 version of the track "Emerald City" from his LP - while also jamming to the CBQ track "Super 8" from "Sparklemusik", although this was not recorded...
Ian and wife Chrissie, currently in America, where her daughter has just had a baby, very kindly gifted me this book on the Documenta...
Ian was hoping to combine a trip there with one to Frankfurt later this year but the Frankfurt trip has been brought forward...
Anne and I are still hopeful of being able to visit Kassel for the Documenta in the summer...
Home around 5:15 - Hearts beaten away from home by St Johnstone, while Queens, under new player manager Wullie (sic) Gibson, managed to hold top of the table Arbroath to a 0-0 draw. All is not yet lost - they are 3 points off second bottom Dunfermline...
A curry (I opted for tasty potatoes & lentils) was ordered, collected and enjoyed with "Superman & Lois Lane"...
...followed by "Shakespeare & Hathaway" and, then, episodes 3 and 4 of French thriller "The Promise"...
An accidental pic of the sofa was taken at some point...
No doubt, another future album cover...
To bed just before midnight...
Highlight of the Day : A visit to an old chum...
