Up reasonably early and updated this for last week – helped of course by Meg the Black Cat...

At 7:50, out into the dark...

...and an estimated 48 minute walk, soundtracked by three hundred year old music, to Helen the lovely Chiropodist for my now 8-weekly appointment...

It took 48 minutes...

...down towards the zoo...

...past the top of the road to Anne's mum's house...

...past the bottom of the road to Jane and Bobby's house...

...past Murrayfield and the Chinese Consulate...

...past the intriguing house...

...aka the Murrayfield House...

...to Helen's...

Chiropody carried out accompanied by entertaining chat - her daughter has her first ballet lesson today...

Buses back, stopping off in Corstorphine for a couple of croissants...

Home just after 9:30, with Anne still asleep...

Breakfast upon her emergence...

The Oxfam Shop with the questionable sense of what constitutes good packaging provided me a £5 refund via Amazon re the damage to my 18th Century Box Set...

Deeming this a friendly gesture of goodwill, I went back to their “shop” and spent £7 on a 3Cd set by David “Fathead” Newman...

Into the car and a drive westwards, soundtracked by said saxophonist...

We stopped at a place I’d never heard of – Whifflet – a suburb of Coatbridge, and took the train into Glasgow Central Station...

...arriving around 12, with the trian back to Whifflet leaving at 1:45...

Out into the sun...

Presents from me for Anne’s upcoming birthday were purchased by Anne while I visited Fopp (Isley Brothers) and HMV (Nicola Roberts – the best writer in Girls Aloud - and Band of Horses) before we met up at Mono...

...where Anne enjoyed a coffee while I perused the wares and ended up with a double CD set of Lee “Scratch” Perry 7” singles, a short album by Swedish singer songwriter Frida Hyvonen, a disc of piano quintets by Bax and Bridge, the about to be released new album by Tosca and a set by Trapist...

Time was tight, so we walked straight back to Central...

...and caught the train back to Whifflet...

...and drove round to Cliftonhill, home of the not so mighty, bottom of the league, Albion Rovers – Coatbridge’s hometown team (formed in the 1880’s by the amalgamation of two teams, The Albion and The Rovers)...

Visitors today were my favourites and Anne’s second favourites, runaway league leaders, Queen of the South...

Lunch from the Rovers Snack Shack...

A good game with Rovers playing well, against what form might have suggested...

Indeed they could have been two up by 30 mins after a goalkeeping gaffe, which said keeper redeemed spectacularly...

...and then a penalty which wasn’t (a diving Marvin Andrews – once a Ranger...)...

...justice being served...

...by it being ballooned over the bar...

Just before half time, Scotland’s highest scorer this season, Queen’s Nicky Clark, added to his tally with a near-post header...

In the second half, Queens dominated, earning their own penalty, which Rovers’ keeper valiantly saved, only for Derek Lyle to blast in on the rebound...

A third was added with around 15 minutes to go – an excellent move finished off by Derek Young...

I missed his somersault celebration though - due to the pillars holding up the stand...

Truth be told, a couple more could have been added if late chances had been exploited properly...

Six wins in a row - we left the ground, cold but happy...

We drove home listening to the debate on the radio re the hellish abomination that is the proposed reconstruction plan for Scottish Football – funny how fans aren’t being listened to this time compared to the Sevco debate over the summer...

New music was sampled and an Indian takeway was ordered for collection from a new place recommended by brother in law Bobby....

Anne watched Corrie as I drove over to pick it up...

Tasty but not amazing...

Rather than goggle box all night, we put the TV off and enjoyed the sounds of The Isley Brothers and Band of Horse while we lounged around...

The view from my sofa - shelf updated...

Two enjoyable episodes of “Borgen” later on, followed by a good BBC Four documentary on sixty years of the singles charts before hitting the sack...

A packed day...

Highlight of the day : Seeing Queens win in person...
