No rain this morning at last...

...and an added bonus was seeing one of the cottage cats in the garden...

Took the special again today at breakfast – Albert Bennet Omelette (smoked Haddock) – melted in the mouth...

A red squirrel sat outside the window as we ate (sadly, not pictured)...

Set out down the hill...

....heading for Ambleside but stopped off in Grasmere, burial place of William Wordsworth and home of the small school at which he taught – it’s now a Gingerbread kitchen and shop – what an aroma...

The neighbouring church is where Wordsworth and his family are buried...

Took a walk along the river...

...before heading on to Ambleside...

Walked around the picturesque little town including a visit to The Plum Piano Record Shop (no purchases)...

...but decided Grasmere was more our scene, so we drove back...

Lunch outdoors by the river in the company of people discussing failed film projects including a paraplegic’s attempt to row across the English Channel – “of course he wasn’t actually doing the rowing” and a man jumping up to sword fence a wasp with his menu...

Oh, and there was the “waiter” guy who would appear at the door and just shout “soup”....

As the rain started to fall again, I took refuge in a nick-nack-ninny shop and bought a key ring of lake District Mascot, Herdy the Sheep...

Took the back road around Thirlemere Lake...

...then home for a rest were I continued to listen through the new CDs...

The sun made another brief appearance...

In the evening, we drove into Keswick and enjoyed a drink at the Dog and Gun – a dog friendly pub it seems, there were at ;east ten friendly dogs there...

Up the road to The Red Fort for our last dinner of the holiday, and very tasty it was too...

Said farewell to Keswick...

And headed home for a listen to a couple of the CDs gifted by Craig before the day was brought to a close with “Mock the Week”...

Highlight of the Day : Grasmere...
