Talking about the band...

Slept in today, which was good...

My downloading problem had been solved overnight - I, it must be stressed, did nothing, except, once again, re-install the software...

I know nothing about computers - other than using mine almost all the time to do the stuff I do...

Some time spent on a project I'm running with the band...

Each of us is to independently provide a list of "30 Songs I Want to Play" and, from that, we will build three sets to play on 24 May at the Dockers...

The feeling is, we've bent too far in trying to please the audience and we need to come back a bit and find more of an equilibrium between doing that and pleasing ourselves...

I put some thoughts to the team, post Keith having put his thoughts to the team...

The outcome of both our thoughts (and some input from Johnny B) would appear to be...

Play songs we actually want to play, and play them competently

Play the original material too

Work on ideas for new original material

Have more regular rehearsals, possibly including self funded "rehearsal gigs"

Rehearse at home with our recordings, especially "Repertoire" and "2545"

Direct people to our Bandcamp page so they can hear what we do, via "Repertoire" and "2545" and can be encouraged to come and see us play

Actively look for gigs, especially those with a built in crowd - we can play as duos, trios and quartets as well as the full quintet line up

Bring as many people as we can to any gigs we do

Also this afternoon, while Anne was at pickleball, I played a few Madredeus CDs and built a playlist of all the recordings I have by them and their singers Teresa Salgueiro and Beatriz Nunez, and ex-member Rodrigo Leao...

Which was nice...

This evening, drove over to Mustapha's Deri to order a tasty Indian takeaway...

Some TV watched - the next in "Bosch" and two of "Rizzoli & Isles" entertained...

Shazammed an ad break for the railways - it was this....

I will investigate...

Coffee...

...and upstairs to work, having received Paul's list of songs to add to mine and John B's...

On the basis of 2 or more votes, with Keith and John W's lists still to arrive, we have a pool of 25 songs so far, enough for two of the three required sets...

Lights out at midnight...

Highlight of the Day : Band discussions...
