Out to the shop first thing...

...and back to breakfast inside sue to weather...

Some relaxing before the day got underway...

Out again just before 11...

...past the church...

...and over to Peterstrasse...

...and the "composers' quarter"...

The work of seven composers is celebrated here...

Georg Telemann, Carl Phillip Emmanuel Bach, Johann Hasse, Felix Mendelssohn, Fanny (Mendelssohn) Hensel, Johannes Brahms and Gustav Mahler...

Into the museum for a long stay...

...with so much information...

...and so many artifacts...

It's not often you'll see the EP wearing headphones...

A genuinely educational day...

In his day, Hasse was the greatest musical star in Europe...

Almost immediately after he died though, he was as good as forgotten...

For the Mendelssohn siblings it's been a different story...

...same for Gustav Mahler...

..and his actual bike...

Of course a souvenir had to be bought...

A quick lunch in a nearby cafe...

..and a short walk through the park...

...past the melted ice rink...

...to Brahms' house...

...including his death mask...

...and original manuscripts...

...and piano...

A great day...

But there was, of course, more to come, as I walked back to the apartment, Anne having left me to finish off an elongated visit on my own...

In the early evening, down to the port for dinner...

Sadly, "Plop'n'Snack" was closed...

Just to be clear, we did not eat at Plop'n'Snack...

Instead we dined close by...

Schnitzel all round...

...before walking back to...

...the Laeiszhalle, part of the Elbphilharmonie...

...for the purpose of our trip - a c concert by Herman Van Veen...

A programm as purchased as a souvenir...

This was a beautiful theatre - in 2016 we witnessed a piano recital here but in the smaller hall...

The stage was set...

We were pretty early in, beating most of the sold out crowd...

A wonderful, entertaining performance ensued...

The first half lasted a good 80 minutes...

An interval was required...

Mr VV is well over 70...

The ensemble danced back onto the stage...

There were big gaps between encores at the end of the concert and many in the audience missed several of them by leaving too soon...

But not us...

Eventually, Herman took the stage alone to close the night...

In all, the performance must have lasted around 160 minutes...

We'd waited a long time for this and it was well worth it...

A walk home in the dark...

...ready for the remainder of the trip...

Highlight of the Day : Herman!
