A lovely morning...

First thing - to the dentist, taking an amble along our 31 years ago now street, past our 31 years ago now flat...

Not such a great day but nothing that really matters...

A meet up with the EP at 5, for some drinks with chums, then a burger for the two of us and a drive up to the Festival Theatre for an evening of dance...

...choreographed in the main by Richard Alston, who gave us a pre-performance talk re the first "set" which comprised pieces from the last 50 years...

...collectively entitled "Mid Century Modern"...

The nine dancers made their way through around half a dozen different pieces from across the decades, set to the music of Monteverdi, Bach, Handel, Ravel (arr. Grainger) and Schubert...

Next up, two pieces to the music of Steve Reich, the first, to a Fourtet remix of "Drumming", was "Detour", choreographed by Alston's colleague, Martin Lawrance...

...the second, Alston's own "Proverb", set to a vocal piece by Reich...

The third part of the performance left me a little cold due to its more traditional nature dance-wise - set to a live rendition of Brahms' "Hungarian Dances" - not my favourite piece of classical music...

All in all though, a brilliant display of modern dance...

Here's a taster...

A walk back to the car and home...

Excellent evening...

Today's artwork, "Two Dancers"...

Highlight of the Day : The ballet...
