The selections for tomorrow's podcast soundtracked today - my plan was to record it tonight...

At lunchtime, partook of a new 4TB hard drive - for music backing up...

As I made my way home, a text from chum Ian Sclater - would I like to accompany him tonight to see Jethro Tull at the Usher Hall as a guest of Mr Ian Anderson?

"Why yes I would" was the response...

Home for a quick and tasty tea with the Exec Producer than back out...

This the scene at 7:30...

An excellent show based around probably the fist ten years or so of the back catalogue, plus one more recent track (still over 15 yrs old)...

The band was top notch...

The visuals were superb, with the band, on several pieces, playing in synchronisation with films of previous configurations of the Tull...

At half time, we were asked to buy T shirts...

The second half was just as good and featured both "Thick as a Brick"...

...and "A Passion Play"...

..along with "Aqualung"

...and, of course, "Locomotive Breath"...

A nice touch were all the between song messages and requests from ex-members and celebrity fans of the band...

The history was depicted in the closing image as the group left the stage...

Ian and I made our way backstage to find we were, in fact, the only two guests...

This time, Mr Anderson was very amenable indeed and was open to discussing the show and tech background re the visuals and synchronised playing etc despite having just performed for two hours and suffering from a chest infection, headache etc etc...

We also met guitarist Florian Ophale - reminiscing about his time with Greg Lake - I met them in 2005 - Florian has been with Anderson now for 15 years - and keyboard player John O'Hara, who chatted about his latest projects...

Out into the night and, as we made our way past a few people with LPs in their hands, hoping for a chance to meet the main man, Mr Tull swept past us on foot and out into the night...

A quick drink and chat with the Sclatmeister before heading home for some late night telly and to bed...

A surprisingly good day, the artwork for which is "An Unexpected Pleasure"...

Highlight of the Day : Jethro Tull...
