Up at 5:35 - the views from the office...

A few hours later, breakfast at home, then, we set out on a wee trip...

...to the village of Falkland in Fife...

We came to take a tour of Falkland Palace (click on the link to find out more - pointless me just retyping it all), sometime home to various Stuart Kings - and the oldest tennis court in the world...

But first, some cake...

And a wander around the picturesque wee town...

And in...

No pics allowed - apart from this attempted hat...

But these are available on that interweb...

This was the King's Bedroom - until Cromwell's troops accidentally burnt it down...

After having been enjoyed by James IV and V, Mary Queen of Scots, James VI and Charles I and II, the palace was left to to rack and ruin for over 200 years after the fire...

It was bought by the Marquis of Bute in the 1870s and renovated as best he could - he was though, one of the richest men in the world at that point so loadsa dosh was spent on the project...

Out into the beautiful gardens...

This is the wall of the oldest tennis court in the world...

Swallows nest in the observation gallery...

The Kings and Queens of old played tennis here...

...and out...

We enjoyed lunch at one of the many eateries in the town and then visited a few shops, one of which featured this lovely but somewhat grumpy wee cat...

As the skies greyed over and the rain started, we said out farewells...

...and headed home...

In the evening, we finally got round to watching all three episodes of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None", recorded just after Xmas...

Very enjoyable indeed...

A good day...

Highlight of the day : Falkland Palace...

Hi Stu - All pics taken with Sony Cybershot DSC WX350 on its Auto setting - you know me, never one to actually do anything to make things better...
