Up early and getting this up to date...

Listening to Beethoven - a new to me set of his complete symphonies ordered in a mad moment last night...

Out for a walk to the grocery store for a French Boule, accompanied by the Pet Shop Boys...

Breakfast at home...

...not just for us...

Out around 11 and into town to buy a new Tivo box for my mum...

Through various traffic jams to Loanhead and the new machine installed, followed by a (judging by subsequent telephone calls tomorrow) ill-understood training session on how to use it...

A reasonably happy old lady...

Old box taken to the dump through further jams...

At home, a search on the net to download a long-missing-from the-collection-single, "Angel" by Rod Stewart, set me off on a new project...

I brought down a box from the attic with all my old charts in it and commenced a new playlist of "singles" from my "charts" compiled throughout 1973...

This is how I waste my time...

At five forty, out and a walk down the hill and along to the zoo and, opposite, Cool Jade, for an excellent meal, to celebrate chum Lynn's birthday with Lynn, partner Ross, elder son Stewart, sister Joan, sister Sheila and Sheila's partner Tim...

Good chat, great food and, possibly, slightly too much imbibing, saw the party roll out at 8:30 and along the road to Lynn and Ross's house...

...where the celebrations continued...

This included attempts to sit down and stand up again unaided (a move which your correspondent could only manage from a seat rather than the required floor)...

Here, Ross tries and fails...

Then, there was the bending over and picking something up with your mouth challenge...

Lynn's sister Sheila managed the first one no bother...

The birthday girl did not...

Sister Joan was...

...successful...

Sheila's partner, Tim, was not...

Anne eschewed the challenge...

The box was cut down...

...which proved too much for Joan...

Lynn's younger son, Scott, jauntily attired in his post-work dressing gown, had a go...

..and he and his dad took things closer to the carpet...

Joan was back

...with a vengeance...

Young Scott abandoned his dressing gown to gain added flexibility...

...which worked...

Ross took the challenge lower...

...and Scott...

...remained in the game...

This was what they ended up trying to get into their mouths without touching the ground with their hands...

The son failed...

...where the dad...

...succeeded...

..and took a bendiness-proving bow...

Then...

...the dancing started...

...eventually only the ladies remained on the floor (Tim had injured his leg earlier in the day whilst climbing)...

This (the drinks, not the cactus or the remote control) was to blame for the dancing...

...and the carpet took a beating...

Your correspondent, having been up at 5, was starting to flag twenty hours later...

...and, eventually,,,

...with the birthday girl just a little worse for wear...

...we called it a night and walked to the main road for a taxi, arriving home around two...

A great night...

Highlight of the the Day : Partying down with Lynn and family...

Looks like the Zumba dancing paid off. Good party!

Yes it seems so - although post party ill effects were much in evidence the next day...
