Out this evening with the Exec Producer...

Tasty Italian at La Piazza...

As ever, the camera was, of course, extremely close to my plate...

Then, up to the South Bridge - a quick visit to Surgeons Hall...

..and coffee/hot chocolate at Black Medicine...

Then, in to the Festival Theatre...

On the walls, pics of Laurel and Hardy's visit to Edinburgh to perform at the theatre in 1954...

Eat your heart out One Direction and The Beatles...

Tonight we witnessed some absolutely wonderful dancing by the young Nederlands Dans Theater 2 - all aged 18-23...

We were in early...

...for the two hour performance...

Scrimping on not buying a programme (spending instead on yummy ice-cream during one of two intervals), I was reduced to snapping the lady in front's publication to see what was what...

Here are some very short and worthwhile vids from the NDT2 website to give you a small idea of what we saw...

The first hour, "Schubert" (UK Premiere), "Sad Case" and, to the music of Max Richter, "Some Other Time" (UK Premiere), comprised some of the best modern dance I've seen...

After an interval, these were followed by two shorter pieces, "mutual comfort" (another UK Premiere) and "Solo" (to Bach's Violin Partita No 1)...

The programme closed with the brilliantly staged "Cacti" with its mash up of Haydn, Beethoven and Schubert string quartets and percussive dancing - yet another highlight in a night of highlights...

Yowsa!

Out into the dark...

...and home, to find I had most of the music danced to tonight...

Highlight of the Day : The dancin'...
