Up early for a fun-packed trip to that London...

Down the hill for the bus to the airport...

Breakfast at the airport - but definitely not sushi...

Boarded on time...

...and away...

The flight was less than a third full...

A 90 minute trip to London City...

...and out at Liverpool Street...

Straight to Spittalfields Market as we were too early to check in...

A record fair was underway...

A disc of Corelli was purchased for just £1 - the salesmen opining "ooh, that's a bit highbrow"...

Lunch on the market and then to nearby Culpeper for a leisurely drink...

...before heading to the hotel - this the view...

The room was lovely and quiet though - just the way we like it...

Back out, past this nearby Lutherian Church...

...and a bus to St Paul's...

Over the bridge...

......to the Tate Modern...

We didn't go fully in, having seen much of it many times before but, as always, the Turbine Room was interesting...

Back out with good light along the river...

It was pretty cold though, so a coffee stop was required...

These guys were playing down on the sand - might have made more cash at street level...

A film crew interviewed me about American Football - apparently the Superbowl was about to take place...

"Do you know who the current champions are?"

"I'm afraid not"...

"Do you know who are playing in the Superbowl this year?"

"I'm afraid not"...

"Did you know it's happening on Sunday?"

"I'm afraid not"...

"Did you know it's on the TV?"

"Is it really?"

"Yep.  Are you going to watch it?"

"Erm.......No"

Oh how we laughed...

To the National Theatre for a look...

...and the BFI...

...with a huge book stall outside (no purchases)...

Blurry drinks were enjoyed inside..

...before a tasty dinner from the Wahaca Truck...

We walked on...

...past the London Eye...

...and over Westminster Bridge...

...before taking the Tube...

...to Fulham Broadway...

...from where it was a short walk to Stamford Bridge, for tonight's concert...

...at Under the Bridge...

First up, 90 minutes or so of electronic synth pop, curated by Rusty Egan of Rich Kids, Visage and Blitz Club fame...

...before Michael Rother took to the stage...

...for an evening of solo material, Neu!, La Dusseldorf and Harmonia music...

This, my favourite pic of the night, as I tried to locate a better vantage point than the Exec Producer was enjoying...

Neu! cohort Hans Lampe was also onstage...

I found a good spot to watch proceedings but, inevitably, had to tell a couple of people to "shut the fuck up"...

Talking through every piece in very loud voices next to me will usually end up with that utterance taking place...

The main perpetrator left shortly thereafter, advising "they've played all this already"...

I think his name was Richard...

After around 80 minutes it was all over...

...until they returned for a 20 minute encore...

The sell out crowd, now minus one, had been thoroughly entertained...

A tube all the way back to Whitechapel...

...and off to bed...

An excellent start to the visit...

Highlight of the Day : Michael Rother & Hans Lampe...
