Work this morning on this week's playlis as the followers on Mixcloud continued to mount and I was advised my playlist No 11 had somehow made into the top 50 rock, the top 50 pop and the top 100 jazz on the site...
Weird but satisfactory...
Into town...
A not often seen by me view of the cathedral...
...to which I returned at lunchtime to hear a cello recital by the Austrian based, Japanese cellist, Momoko Sakai...
Here she is leaving the stage after taking her much deserved second bow at the end of her recital...
She played J S Bach's Cello Suite No 1, Toshiro Mayuzumi's "Bunraku" and Gaspar Cassado's three movement suite...
Excellent...
I can't find anything by her on the net but here are the Mayuzumi and the firstmovement of the Cassado, performed by the cellist Francis Gouton...
Back home and Dave King Trucking Company's latest disc had arrived from the states. The Bad Plus played a piece called "Abandoned Highway" when I saw them a couple of weeks back - although this album bears the same name, there is no title track...
Great stuff though...
"Big Bang" was accompanied by a tasty pork chop, super sauce and sweet potato mash tea...
Also enjoyed later on were some videos of improv from new discovery Plymouth and the related (two common members) Slobber Pup - and a one off police thing on TV called "Walter"...
Elsewhere, some considerable time spent writing notes for the 44 tracks which will be issued in the podcast tomorrow morning...
Lights out...
Highlight of the Day : Cello virtuosity...
