Various - Albums of the Year Shuffleplay
Lechner/Tsabropoulos - Gurdjieff : Chants, Hymns and Dances
Up early and posted the latest playlist to Facebook, it having popped up here automatically earlier this morning...
No breakfast...
At 9:30 into the car and we drove south...
First stop was Lauder and the Flat Cat Gallery...
...where yummy cakes were resisted..
...and a colourful savoury Continental breakfast was enjoyed...
A walk around the village...
...complete with this "half-a-house" and its garden for sale...
On down to the Border...
On this route, the A68, it's up a reasonably high hill and so was a bit chilly as I stepped out the car to record the occasion...
On into England - I'd chosen a not before taken route to our destination...
...and so it was that, for the first time, we passed through the village of Rothbury...
...visiting its Coquetdale Arts Centre, where further original art was admired...
...including the purpose of our journey...
On to Alnwick and the inevitable visit to Barter Books...
...where Anne succumbed to the lure of cake - while I was good and opted for the tasty fruit salad...
...and managed once again to reduce my credit note with the establishment, acquiring a very tuneful disc of piano and cello music by, in the main, Gurdjieff, along with a guide to Berlin, a book on ambience in music by David Toop and a very nice 1964 tome on the DaDa movement by one of its founders, Hans Richter...
And on to our destination, through last October's weekend target Warkworth, to the supposedly very haunted Schooner Hotel, in the very picturesque village of Alnmouth...
As predicted, it started to pour, so we enjoyed some refreshments in the bar...
...before dashing along the main street...
...to another bar...
..which was very dog friendly...
Over the road to the Italian Restaurant at the Hope & Anchor, where gentlemen out with their ladies seemed more interested in Social Media than conversation...
A rather less healthy dinner was very much enjoyed...
Your sated correspondent was a little the worse for wear in his jazzy shirt...
And so a constitutional was undertaken, the rain now having abated...
We headed for the beach...
...and walked across the sand to the water's edge...
...where this self timed shot gave us an excellent close up of the sand...
The beach and seascape shots were a little more successful...
Back to the village...
...via a walk around the estuary...
A good start to our two day break...
Highlight of the Day : Everything...
