Up and the rain had gone and the sun was out...

A good breakfast and then out...

...and back to beach, enjoying it this morning in the sun...

A helicopter flew over the estuary...

...as we said goodbye to Alnmouth...

...and made the short drive, through last October's weekend target, Warkworth and on down the coast to Amble...

...for the real purpose of our trip...

...to see some wee birds - but not these...

Puffins were on the agenda...

A one hour boat trip to the RSPB sanctuary of Coquet Island...

This is the type of bulb (35 Watts) that provides the light from the lighthouse of a night...

Puffins a plenty...

Single puffins...

...and puffins in groups..

Very good indeed - we like puffins you see...

Well worth the trip...

Then, the long trip home led us to, firstly, Warkworth....

...where Anne bought a new Hare based print for the house (I'd already bought some classical CDs - see playlist - for just over a quid all in, to subsidise the art purchase - in my mind anyway)...

A huge rainstorm put paid to a planned visit to Seahouses and Bamburgh and we pressed on to Wooler...

...where coffee and scones were enjoyed before the final leg of the drive home...

Back in the garden, the flowers continued to bloom...

...and the hare was applied to the wall...

Meanwhile some new puffin paraphernalia has replaced three of my art/CBQ based mugs in the kitchen - now relegated to my desk...

A very enjoyable weekend...
