I'm not going up any more inclines...

Playlist
David Bowie - Ziggy Startdust
Various - Albums of the Year (Shuffle)
Chris Franke - Klemania

Up early leaving Anne sleeping and out into the mist...

A wee look at the camping site where we stayed in 1982, just a few hundred meters from our house...

This rock is something which, once seen...

...is not forgotten...

Back into Konigssee and a closer look at my home from home back in 1974, time machine soundtracked by Ziggy Stardust...

Another chance-placed rock...

It looks pretty bad when you get close...

This the reception area where we would gather for the various excursions we undertook...

This was the party room where we'd spend the evenings, entertainment coming from a real jukebox, stuffed with 7" singles - my fave track was "Samba Pa Ti" by Santana...

Back home for breakfast...

The view from the balcony - it looked like it was going to be a scorcher...

Out into the just coming over the mountains sun...

..and off on our short trip over the border to Salzburg...

Interesting mountains near Hallein...

...as we headed to our destination - avoiding the Austrian autobahns, the use of which demands the purchase of a costly permit...

Into the city and, after realising that their park and ride system was more of a park and pay through the nose to take ages to get into the centre of town system, we found a spot to park for free...

We are Scottish...

A short walk to the centre...

...with the castle on one side...

...and the old monastery on the other...

And the house in which Mozart was born...

..on the Getreidegasse...

The compact old town of Salzburg is beautiful...

Through the Franziskanergasse...

Into Domplatz...

..and on to Residenzplatz, with its offering of horse drawn carriage rides...

..and past the Salzburg Museum, where we'd be later...

And who's this?

Why, it's Mr Mozart of course...

...taking pride of place on Mozartplatz...

By the time we'd had a good look round, we needed to get back to move the car to avoid a ticket...

Through the Altermarkt...

...and back down to and over the river...

...noting this memorial on the Staatsbrucke...

This corner is significant for us - it was here that we first heard the phrase which has passed into Crispycat legend - "I'm not going up any more inclines" - uttered by a disgruntled and overweight American woman within our earshot back in 1983...

I often use it to this day...

After successfully moving the car, we had a look round the town on this side of the river...

Choosing another spot, we remained parked near the Mirabellgarten...

Now we walked up round Bergstrasse...

...on to Linzstrasse...

...where a cat based souvenir was partaken of by the Exec Producer...

We were to meet with Anne's chum Gillian - she's been living here since early June...

So, back over the river...

...and back into the old town, where yet another CD was purchased - I found this in a book shop for just four of your Austrian Euros...

...a "not too bad" Tangerine Dream based solo album...

Onward...

...to Residenzplatz...

..and the Salzburg Museum on the corner...

...enjoying this view...

...and meeting up with Gillian - not seen since our night out back in May...

...for coffee for the ladies and a refreshing Weissbier for your correspondent...

After an hour or so, it was back into sight-seeing mode and across the river yet again, for the last time...

Into the Mirabellgarten - scene of a couple of weddings today...

The gardens' biggest claim to fame is their use in the film "The Sound of Music"...

...in which the kids emulated these statues...

I liked this view...

...and this gate...

...and this large mirrorball...

Back to the car and home under the hot sun - it had indeed been a scorcher...

...which warranted beers on the balcony...

...before, as the sun went down, a walk down to the lake...

..and a coffee...

On the way back to get the car, we spotted this we cat...

...now known as the Konigssee Cat...

We drove a few miles to Pizza Jolly...

..where I had one of the hottest pizzas ever - look at those chilis, complete with seeds...

Tasty!

Home in the dark...

Another good day...
